At Platt Lane Fallowfield the game against Flixton Ladies started forty minutes late due to a mix up regarding the offical kick-off time
The match finally got under way and possibly due to the fact that the Beechy players had waited over a hour since arriving at the ground and the Flixton team had little time to prepare the first half turned out to be apoor game of football
It was no real suprise that both teams were delighted when the referee blew the whistle for the half time break
It was a different story in the second half as both teams fought hard to win possession and Beechys defenders had to work hard when under pressure but stand-in keeper Shauna Smith dealt confidently with all Flixtons attempts on goal
At the other end of the pitch the Flixton keeper was having a fantastic game keeping Beechy at bay but eventually United broke the deadlock and were rewarded with three quick goals in succession
Sophie Wainwright was on target twice after forcing her way through Flixtons defence and producing equally strong finishes, the other goal comming from Alicia Stretton who scored via a lovely left footed shot that flew into the goal
the whole team deserved a pat on the back for achieving this 3-0 victory after turning a poor first half into a winning second forty five minutes and the three points take Beechy to top of the table with one game to play
Voted Player of the Match was Lauren Neill
