Easily the best performance of the weekend was produced by Beechfield United Under 15's Sunday team who fought back from 3-0 down to beat top of Division 4 outfit West Didsbury and Chorlton 4-3. This away victory in the Timperley and District League took United's unbeaten run to nine games and Beechy go into the New Year just one point behind West Didsbury and Chorlton in the table with a game in hand. United were a goal down at half time and looked a beaten team after conceding two more goals but with twenty minutes the comeback began. Man of the Match Ellis Kenny and Jack Thompson with two goals apiece guaranteed a real Christmas bonus for the Beechy boys.

The Under 15's Tornadoes final game of 2018 was away to Parkwyddn JFC. This Bolton Bury and District League Section D fixture that ended with a 2-2 score line was a fair result. It was 1-1 at the break and both teams had enough chances in the second half to secure a victory. An own goal plus one from Charlie Wallwork who shared the Man of the Match award with Joe Eckersley made up the Tornadoes tally.

At home to Ladybridge Lions the Under 14's Storm suffered their first defeat of the season in the Salford and Districts League. The visitors to Bolton Road Playing Fields won the match 3-2 but the referee should have disallowed their winning goal because the Ladybridge forward was clearly in an offside position when he received the ball. Charlie Molloy and Bailey Lloyd scored the goals for the Storm who's Best Player was Leo Hancock.

For the second time in three weeks Beechy Under 14's Thunder met Championship Division leaders Royton Town. This was Thunder's home game in the North Bury Junior League and despite having no substitutes available Beechy put up a gutsy performance and matched their opponents for the majority of the seventy minutes. But chances for Thunder were of a limited number and their normal quality finishing was missing while Royton Town took their chances and eventually won the match 3-0. Man of the Match was Taonga Mututa and overall this was a very good performance by Beechy.

At Beech Farm Playing Fields weather conditions were pretty awful for all the teams with home games and that included the Under 12's Lightning (9v9) fixture with Winton Gladiators. This Division 3 game was a very close affair and at the final whistle it was the visitors who collected the three points via a 3-2 victory. Robert Harris was voted Best Player and goal scorers for Lightning were Jake Barrington and David Olidoy.

On the banks of the River Irwell and in arctic conditions at Salford Sports Village the Under 11's Tornadoes secured their place in the semi-finals of the Challenge Tournament with victory over Barr Hill Clubs. Due to bitterly cold wind the quality of play wasn't up to the usual high standard however the Tornadoes adapted better to the conditions and with the wind in their favour were rewarded for some superior play with a 5-1 half time lead. After the break Barr Hill netted their second goal but two more goals for Beechy guaranteed an emphatic win. Goal scorers were Oliver Percival with two well taken first half strikes, a delightful long range effort from Edward Hughes, another goal for Finley Fairhurst and completing a hat trick was Team Captain Joel Thorndyke. For the second game running Edward Hughes was the Tornadoes Man of the Match after another disciplined midfield display.

Sharing a 0-0 score line at half time with opponents Moorside Rangers Greens were the Under 11's Hurricanes (9v9) In the second half as they pushed forward looking for the opening goal Beechy were punished for leaving gaps in defence and Rangers grabbed the lead. Soon after following an individual error Rangers added a second goal but Seddik Mbaye reduced the arrears with a powerful finish. William Schofield had a guilt edged chance to put Beechy level but he shot wide before another defensive mistake gifted Rangers a third and match winning goal. For his assured display the Hurricanes Man of the Match award went to Nicholas Green.

Despite dominating their Yellow Group home game against Deans Youth Panthers the Under 11's Storm (9v9) suffered a single goal defeat. Deans match winning goal came from their only effort on target while Storm created enough chances to have at least forced a draw. Tommy Harnell was named Beechy's Star Player.

Mycah Camilleri and Asa Brown shared the Under 10's Tornadoes Man of the Match award following the Sunday Red Group home game with South Manchester Sports. Unfortunately Beechy's final match of the year ended with a defeat.

There was a great end to end game between the Under 10's Lightning and AFC Monton Dragons in the Green Group. For Beechy there were tremendous performances from Charlie Bell who ran the midfield and goalkeeper Jake Lewis but voted Man of the Match was Presley Smith who netted a hat trick. Lightning's players thoroughly deserved their victory with Jai Devani-White scoring the winning goal in the last five minutes.

Beechy Under 10's Hurricanes were at home to Flixton Junior Lions but they lost this Blue Group fixture by the odd goal in five. The Hurricanes produced a great display of real character and certainly didn't deserve to lose the match. Dillian Caldwell was chosen as Man of the Match and the Hurricanes full squad for the game was Daniel Robinson, Dillian Caldwell, Jamie Maher, Joshua Whitehead, Henry Errington, Fabio Figueredo, Alfie Rostron, Amaan Khan, Oliver Dalton-Bunker.

Playing away against AFC Monton Sports the Under 9's Tornadoes lost for the first time in two months and with no match on the previous two Saturday's the lack of game time effected the Tornadoes performance especially in the second half. Numerous half chances were on offer but Beechy didn't trouble the Monton keeper to often plus the final pass lacked enough accuracy. The Tornadoes goalkeeper Jack Lee was Man of the Match after making three excellent saves in open play plus he also saved a penalty.

A below-par performance by Beechy Under 9's Lightning resulted in an away defeat to Parkwyddn Phoenix. In the Blue Group Lightning never got out of first gear but the highlight of the match was a moment of brilliance from defender and Star Player Isaac Moore who ran from his own half and after beating three Parkwyddn players scored his first goal for Beechy.

With home advantage the Under 8's Storm met Flixton Junior Blues in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Tournament. Beechy were punished for not taking their chances after failing to remain calm in goal scoring situations. There was a Man of the Match display from Storm's goalkeeper Reuben Wardle and a couple of goals for Harry Wallis.

A draw would have been a fair result at the end of the Under 7's derby game with Moorside Rangers Blue but a penalty plus a late winning goal meant Beechy lost this very evenly balanced and competitive Division 1 contest. In freezing temperatures both teams attacked straight from the kick off and it was Moorside who took the lead via a powerful long range shot. Beechy responded with a fantastic equaliser when Aiden Gradwell produced a precise finish following a accurate cross from the right wing by Daniel Wharton. Some excellent goalkeeping from Sophie Price kept Moorside at bay while Jacob Wood, Thomas Brady and Oliver Cooper combined in the move that gave Beechy the lead but those two late goals snatched victory away from an ever improving Beechy outfit.
