- Evening Junior Games 30/4/2019 and 2/5/2019
On Tuesday 30th April 2019 Beechfield United Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) secured their place in the Supplementary Cup final thanks to an emphatic 6-0 away win over Flixton Cougars. Dominating the tie from start to finish Beechy took a 1-0 lead via Jamie Withington to break Cougars stubborn resistance. Charlie Harris added a quickfire brace then Ronan Mullen rounded the keeper to give Typhoon a deserved 4-0 lead at half time. Flixton rallied after the break and Beechy keeper Peter Ellis was called into action on numerous occasions. Sonny O'Brien added the fifth goal and finally with his first goal of the season Harry Davies completed the scoring following a corner. This was an accomplished all-round team performance and Typhoon's players can be proud of their achievements and receiving the Man of the Match award was Sam Henderson.
Producing an improved performance in their Thursday evening home game with Swinton Tigers were the Under 9's Tornadoes. In this Yellow Group fixture Beechy made the worst possible start when they went a goal down after just sixty second but the Tornadoes responded well and two goals from Stewart Kay one following a Josh Beddows corner gave Beechy the lead. The second half proved to be a more cagey affair with both defences on top and Tornadoes goalkeeper Jack Lee made several crucial saves. The Beechy outfield players still need to work on passing the ball with much more accuracy plus better movement and tracking back to help in defence. It was a tough choice regarding Man of the Match as George Wadeson produced an all action display, Stewart Kay contributed with two great goals but Jack Lee for those vital saves picked up the award.
Also on Thursday evening Beechy Under 9's Lightning played Flixton Junior Wildcats at home in a re-arranged Supplementary Competition match. In what was an emotional roller coaster of a game Lightning went a goal up through Oscar Mather though Flixton equalised and after the visitors took the lead they looked be heading for victory in normal time. But with the last kick of the tie Jeano Baker scored a fantastic equaliser that resulted in a crazy pitch invasion and Beechy now had a chance to book a place in the final. Unfortunately Lightning lost a tense penalty shoot-out but every player had fought to the end and named Man of the Match was Kyle Tandy who had produced a superb defensive display.
