Following a fully deserved hard fought victory over Manchester Maccabi Falcons in the Red Group the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) stretched their unbeaten run to ten games. A well taken goal by Sam Rowbottom in the 10th minute was reward for Beechy's early dominance in this Sunday home game. But a spirited Maccabi Falcons produced a positive reply and thanks to two goals one a delightful free kick the visitors held the lead at half time. It took almost twenty minutes of the second half before the Tornadoes equalised after the Falcons had survived an attacking surge from Beechy who had seen six efforts hit both post and crossbar. When the cool Finley Fairhurst finally fired home the equaliser the Tornadoes were expected to go on and easily win the match but once again Maccabi Falcons fought back and regained the lead. Undeterred Beechy continued to put pressure on their opponents and from a resulting corner the ball appeared to hit Edward Hughes on the side of the face and roll over the line. With six minutes remaining the Tornadoes won another corner and after controlling the ball on his chest Edward Hughes drilled it low into the corner of the net for Beechy's match winning goal. Maccabi forced three successive corners and the Tornadoes had to produce some resolute defending before they could claim the victory. This was another great all-round team effort and the Tornadoes added determination and resilience to their growing list of attributes. Man of the Match was midfield ace Edward Hughes for a tireless hard working display.
