When the final whistle sounded at the end of the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) home game against Bury Amateurs Lions both sets of management and players shook hands and agreed that a draw was a fair result following this Red Group encounter. On an unfamiliar and bobbly pitch at Salford Sports Village both teams set about the task in hand and though Tornadoes had most of the ball and created some decent chances it was evident that accurate and crisp passing of the ball would be a rarity. Sam Rowbottom opened the scoring when through sheer determination he put the Bury Lions defenders under pressure and was able to tap the ball past the static visitors keeper. Then Edward Hughes added a second goal for Beechy before Bury Lions reduced the arrears after capitalising on a rare mix-up between a defender and Tornadoes stand-in keeper Finlay Fairhurst. There was no real change to the pattern of play in the second half with neither goalkeeper being troubled though the woodwork rescued both teams who found quality chances hard to muster. Bury Lions eventually equalised midway through the second period but neither team could find a winning goal. Tornadoes Man of the Match was awarded to Finlay Fairhurst for a competent stint between the posts.
