POSTED: April 11 2017 10:22:42. By Oscar Courtney - U7's Tornadoes V U7's Urmston Town Storm

Saturday 8th April, Beech Farm, 11am KO, Supplementary Cup.

Facing Urmston Town Storm, in our final Supplementary Cup Group game, was always going to be a tough ask, especially when it was win or bust for the Tornadoes!

Unfortunately, the boys got off to a slow start and we found ourselves well in arrears, early doors.

However, as the half progressed, the Tornadoes started to show a lot more desire and soon found themselves competing all over the pitch and matching Urmston in every department, as Alfie netted a goal to put the Tornadoes in with a shout in the second half.

After the interval, the boys really ramped up the pressure and the match developed in to quite a titanic tussle. It was to and fro all the way as the Tornadoes, courtesy of a second half hat trick from Alfie, inched their way back in to the match, to level the scores, with about 5 minutes remaining.

Sadly though, the lads couldn't hold on and we fell behind again with minutes remaining. Although both teams came close to netting again in the final few minutes there was to be no more goals and the match ended in a narrow victory for Urmston.

Although, the lads only got to play 2 cup games this season, instead of the basic 3, I think they acquitted themselves very well!
From what I could see, we were terribly unfortunate to lose both games by the narrowest of margins.

The team should be very proud of themselves: they worked extremely hard in both games and, but for a bit more luck, and maybe a bit more passing, things may have turned out slightly different.

What impressed me more than anything was their second half display in this match against Urmston. They were all terrific and they demonstrated tremendous determination to fight back and push Urmston all the way to the final whistle. For that reason, I awarded the MOTM trophy to the whole team!
Brilliant, everyone!
