POSTED: October 02 2017 10:48:32. By Oscar Courtney - STRETFORD VIC U8 ALBION V U8 TORNADOES

Saturday, 30th September, Highfield Close, KO 9am.

There's nothing like the smell of freshly cut grass, in a fine drizzle to set the senses racing.

Unfortunately for us, it took the boys a good 5 minutes to get going in this game. Certainly, the early exchanges were dominated by the Albion as they virtually camped out in our penalty area. They passed the ball around beautifully I thought and definitely had us under the cosh. How they didn't score was down to some absolute resolute defending and goal keeping from our lads!

However, once that early threat subsided, the Tornadoes started to get in to a groove and soon started to carve out some decent chances. Flinn and Dylan both came close as the Tornadoes upped the pace of their game, but it was Daire who'd break the deadlock with a very composed finish.

This was the cue then for the boys to tighten their grip on the game even further. There was to be no let up as the Tornadoes put in a performance of pace, power and gritty determination. Every single one of them did their jobs to perfection and in the end it turned out to be a very comfortable victory for us.

Daire scored a fantastic 5 to put him at the top of the team's goal scoring charts. Jack got 1,Stewart scored a hat trick and George scored too after one of his marauding runs from defence!

In terms of the MOTM awards there were several contenders. Daire was just sheer class, Jack was so determined to score and Oliver, once again, in nets was spectacular. In fact, Oliver was very unlucky not to keep a clean sheet, with the Albion's consolation coming in the 24th minute of the second half, 4 minutes over the regulation time!

However, for his sheer hard work, energy and always playing with a smile on his face the MOTM award went to Stewart Kay.

Overall then a great display. Keep going!
Oscar and Richard.
