- Junior Section Match Details 8th/9th Feb 2025
It was time to celebrate for the Players and Team Officials of Beechfield United U/12's Tornadoes who were crowned Salford and Districts Junior League 9v9 Division 1 Champions.
*The Under 12's Tornadoes needed three points from their last league fixture to guarantee themselves the winners trophy. Beechy were away against Ashton on Mersey Bulls and at one stage in the game were 2-0 down but the Tornadoes produced a brilliant comeback and secured a 5-2 victory. Max Blood (2) Lucio Riva (2) and Luke Bennett scored the goals and assists came via Luke, Lucio, Zack MacKinnon, Tyler Ackernley and Kian Murphy.
*Getting back to winning ways were the Under 15's TORNADOES who were away to Manchester Bees in the Supplementary Cup. This was Beechy's second game in Group B and they were able to celebrate a 3-0 victory. Despite facing heavy pressure in the first twenty minutes the Tornadoes kept their nerve and gradually got a foothold in the game. (HT 0-0) Following a clever free kick Joshua Beddows broke the deadlock in the second half then Logan McFeely put Beechy 2-0 up after another Joshua Beddows free kick. The victory was guaranteed when Oscar Mather completed the scoring, slotting the ball home from the edge of the area following a brilliant through pass from Jayden Hoye.
*Despite another quality performance Beechy Under 11's LIGHTNING didn't get the result they fully deserved following their game with Collyhurst Blues. At the central venue in the Manchester Youth Super League Lightning made a positive start plus they created several chances. Collyhurst took the lead when Beechy failed to clear the ball out of the penalty area but Lightning got a quick equaliser when from an Henry Dunn corner Kayson Gregg hammered the ball home. Unfortunately due to a lack of concentration Collyhurst scored again almost straight from the restart and held their one goal advantage at half time. The second half was a close affair and Beechy could have scored three or four goals while Collyhurst added another goal to their tally. Lightning's Man of the Match was Charlie Drury who produced a solid defensive display.
*Beechy Under 10's STORM were in action against AFA Monton Mad Dogs a team who have previously beaten Storm so the Beechy Boys were looking for revenge. Starting off the back foot Storm were soon under pressure but they managed to soak it up and against the run of play took the lead. After the goal Storm began to control this Red Group away game with some fantastic passing and movement off the ball that produced Beechy's second goal. Unfortunately before half time Monton Mad Dogs reduced the arrears with their first goal. The second half started exactly the same as the first with Monton on top and pushing for an equaliser but Storm defended superbly. Regaining control of the game Beechy earned their third goal but with a quick response Monton scored again that made it a nail biting last ten minutes. More solid defending from Storm limited their opponents to chances from distance and Beechy were able to celebrate the win. Goalscorers for Storm were Kade Doyle and Bobby Lowe. Manager's Man of the Match was Harry Heathcote-Clare and Parents Man of the Match was Jacob Foster.
*In a Salford and Districts Junior League Yellow Group game the Under 9's STORM were massively unlucky to get nothing to show for their efforts from their away fixture with Baguley Athletic Tigers. In the first half Storm were far the dominant team but they were unable to convert any of their numerous chances and shared a goalless scoreline at half time. Following a slow start in the second half Baguley were awarded a dubious free kick by their Manager who was refereeing the game and this allowed Storm's opponents to take the lead with possibly their first effort on target. Shortly after a Baguley defender added his teams second goal via a speculative strike that saw the ball go up and over Beechy keeper Rocky Linehan. Beechy worked hard when they fought to get back into the game as they dominated the rest of the second half. There were Man of the Match performances from Jacob McLoughlin and Jude Aimson who were denied a goal by the in-form Baguley Athletic goalkeeper.
*Rewarded for a great team performance were Beechy Under 8's TORNADOES who met Swinton Tigers at home. In this Salford and Districts Junior League Yellow Group fixture every Beechy player made a massive contribution to this excellent overall display. Bodie Morrison was voted the Tornadoes Player of the Match and on target with the Beechy goals were Billy Boyd and Brayden Gilligan.
*The Under 16's HURRICANES were looking for a Division 1 winning double when they travelled to play Urmston Town Juniors. When the teams met previously in the Salford and Districts Junior League Beechy came out on top 4-1 victory. The first forty minutes of this return match ended 0-0 so both teams were hoping to find a glut of goals in the second half. Urmston Town opened the scoring though Henry Errington equalised for Beechy part way through the half but following some sloppy Hurricanes defending Urmston regained the lead. Beechy got back level again with a superb goal by Rafael Djacy and as the game moved into its closing stages there was time for for either side to find a winning goal and it was Beechy who got it thanks to Henry Errington setting-up a tense end to the game. Hurricanes Man of the Match was Josh Whitehead.
*Making the long journey for their East Manchester Junior League Division 3 fixture with Cheadle and Gatley were Beechy Under 16's THUNDER. Starting line-up: Oliver DB, Devon, Mihail, Rudolf, Zach D, Rafa, Sol, Zach B, Djacy, Pedro. Substitute: Sultan. One of the incidents in the first half arrived when the referee didn't award Thunder a penalty after Djacy had been fouled in the area. The strong wind made it difficult for both teams to play good football and chances were few and far between so it no surprise when the first forty minutes end goalless. Cheadle and Gatley made a bright start in the second half and Beechy keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker made one vital save to deny the hosts a goal. Thunder produced a battling backs-to-the-wall display especially in the second half and thoroughly deserved the one point from the game that finished 0-0. Mihail was voted Man of the Match.
