Swinton Lions v Beechfield Thunder Under 7s (Salford and Districts Junior League)

In a game played in atrocious weather conditions Beechfield came up against a strong attacking side in Swinton. In the first ten minutes all the play belonged to Thunder who showed character, with some smart one two football and great defending in the opening exchanges, which led to the first goal of the match from leading goalscorer Ronnie Green. Thunder still battled with the one goal lead and with Gideon James putting in some strong tackles and runs with the ball, Swinton couldn't get near him. Zac Vaughan kept the side moving with some superb passing and moving into space for the team to create chances. Once Swinton got hold of the ball they started to command the game, they had taken a healthy lead at half time. With the weather worsening Swinton got more goals, even with the efforts of Jesse Fletcher stopping some attacks and never giving up the whole game. Thunder started making chances again and some great runs with the ball saw Aldo Gannon get a few chances which he was unlucky not to convert. Even with Swinton applying pressure Raurie Brassington pulled off some marvellous saves with the final score finishing in Swinton's favour. The Beechy Boys should be proud of their efforts and plenty of positives considering the result and weather conditions. Special mentions to Gideon James and Raurie Brassington on their trophy's today.
