Urmston Town Dragons v Beechfield Thunder

Second away trip to Urmston for the Thunder boys this morning and this time it was the Urmston Town Dragons who were looking to bring the fire. In goal Bobby, Angelo and Elliot in defence with Che and José leading the attacking line and new signing Finley and Gio as substitutes. Another bright but crisp Saturday morning and the Thunder boys got off to a great start laying down the gauntlet to the Dragons. Thunder were looking to make use of the wide pitch and it was Che and Elliot causing early problems for the Dragons with darting runs down the flanks and Angelo looking for direct passes into José.

The Dragons were holding out with some good defensive play but it wasn't long before Elliot's menacing runs paid off with José poaching in a nice finish getting the Thunder boys off the mark. Thunder with their tails up and it wasn't long before a near repeat scenario gave José another chance to slot in a finish which he gladly took for the second goal. With the Dragons looking stunned the next Thunder strike soon followed with the goal hungry José finding the net from a tight angle after more darting runs from Elliot and Che who were causing the Dragons all sorts of problems.

Angelo began to venture into the dragons territory looking to fire off shots of his own as Thunder were looking comfortable and gaining confidence in possession. The Dragons started to puff some smoke and hit back at Thunder with a neat finish after a loose ball was picked off on the edge of the Thunder box leaving Bobby with little time to close down the shot. Into the latter stages of the first half and Thunder were chasing another goal before the half time break. After yet another Thunder corner it was new boy Finley who punished the Dragons with a lovely finish past the Dragons keeper to score on his debut.

Into the second half and Thunder were still hungry for more goals with Gio and Finley making some good runs and passages of play. José not satisfied with his hat trick was soon pouncing on another opportunity from Elliott's attacking play into the box happily firing in his fourth for Thunder. With the Dragons looking out of ideas it wasn't long before José yet again found the net for his fifth goal ending with Thunder well and truly slaying the Dragons ⚡. Some excellent work from the boys today with some big improvements witnessed on passing and moving into space.

Man of the Match - José for his precise finishes on all his 5 goals. Special mention for Elliott with 4 assists today who's still probably wondering how he didn't score 😄 and Finley with his debut goal ⚡.
