Moorside Rangers Green v Beechfield Utd U/8's Thunder
Only a stones throw away this morning for the Thunder boys at arch rivals Moorside Rangers. Another bright Saturday morning with Thunder looking to repeat their winning performance from last weekend at Urmston. Today's team was Bobby in goal, Angelo and Elliot leading the defence with Finley and Che being the attacking duo, substitutions were Ralph, Gio and Louie. The game got off to a close start with both teams looking evenly matched on the ball and in possession. Moorside looking to make home advantage of a smaller looking pitch but it was Thunder who struck first after some good play down the left wing from Finley led to chance for Che who struck in a great strike past the Moorside keeper. Moorside were soon back level though after an attempt on goal was saved by Bobby but the loose ball was pounced on for an easy leveller. Not deterred the Thunder boys were back on the front foot with Che again netting the second from a deflected strike that left the Moorside keeper with no chance. Moorside looked determined to even things up and it came not long after, a ball in behind the Thunder defence left another easy finish to level it up. Thunder began pressing for the lead with some charging runs by Gio and Ralph who were looking full of energy but it was Moorside who took the lead just before half time with a brilliant free kick that left Bobby with no chance inside the near post.
Into the second half and Thunder started bright with Louie and Elliot linking up well but the Moorside side was proving troublesome to break. Moorside began to put the pressure on and hit their fourth goal after a scramble in defence lead to another easy finish. With Thunder looking shocked it was Ralph who came to the rescue with a lovely solo run into the box and a great finish into the bottom corner. Thunder kept up the pressure with some direct passes flying in by Finley and Che making runs into the box. But against the run of play is was Moorside who found the net again with another loose ball finding it's way past the Thunder defence allowing an easy finish for their striker. Not phased by the two goal cushion Thunder were back on the attack from the kick off and it wasn't long before Che made his hat-trick with a slotted finish after some good link up play from the back by Elliot and Finley. Thunder were on the charge looking for the equaliser and with little time left it was Che who found it with a superb shot from miles away that struck the Moorside net like a bolt from the blue ⚡. A fantastic effort from the lads today to get back on level terms especially after trailing by two goals down they never gave up .
Man of the Match - Che for his excellent work rate and all four goals he scored, in particular the last one which if you look out of the window tonight you will mistakenly see what you think is a comet is actually the ball still moving from it's origin at Beechy field's ☄️⚡
