**U9 Red Group League Match Report
Date: 18.10.25
Fixture: Beechfield LIGHTNING 🆚 Old Trafford Ace’s
Venue: Away – Old Trafford
The Lightning boys kicked off their first game in the Red Group with a spirited performance away to Old Trafford Ace’s. Beechfield made an electric start, taking the game straight to their opponents with Billy and Ronnie driving attacks down both wings.
Their early pressure paid off when Brayden fired Beechfield into the lead with a spectacular strike after a strong attacking spell. At the back, Angelo and Elliot worked tirelessly to shut down Old Trafford’s counter-attacks, while Bodie looked to play clever, direct passes to launch Beechfield forward.
Goalkeeper Bobby was in fine form, pulling off some outstanding saves to keep the Lightning ahead. Before half time Beechfield doubled their advantage — once again through Brayden, whose pace and precision finishing gave the Old Trafford defence nightmares.
In the second half, Finley stood firm, making crucial interceptions as Old Trafford pushed hard to get back into the game. Ralph made some determined runs into the box but was unlucky not to find a clear chance. Old Trafford eventually clawed their way level, but Brayden wasn’t done yet — completing his hat-trick to restore Beechfield’s lead at 3-2.
The home side fought back again, equalising before Billy produced a brilliant solo effort to make it 4–3 for Beechfield. Despite their relentless effort, the Lightning boys couldn’t hold onto the lead, as Old Trafford finished strongly to take the match 7–4.
It was a thrilling game from start to finish — full of goals, grit, and great teamwork. The boys will take plenty of positives and valuable lessons from this encounter as they continue their journey in the Red Group. Bobby capped off a Man of the Match performance with some outstanding late saves to keep Lightning in the hunt. ⚡
**The Challenge Tournament tie between the Under 8's THUNDER and AFC Urmston Meadowside had everything. Great goals, momentum swings and a true cup tie feel from start to finish. Thunder raced into a two goal lead with Aldo twice on target but Urmston hit back adding three goals in quick succession to turn the game on it's head. Gideon produced a moment of magic via a long range strike to equalise before a cool finish put Thunder ahead at the break. Beechy dominated the second half and Roman capped off a wonderful move for Thunder's fifth goal then Aldo completed his hat-trick before Ronnie scored Beechy's seventh goal. Urmston got their fourth goal just before the final whistle. Well done to Thunder's star studded squad Aldo, Ronnie, Roman, Freddie, Raurie, Gideon, Jesse and George.
**Beechy Under 8's TORNADOES had a tough game against a strong and experienced Salford Storm side. The boys battled hard from the first whistle, showing great effort and determination even when things weren't going their way. There were some strong defensive moments, brave saves and plenty of attacking moves with efforts only just missing the target. In the second half Harry got his reward for persistence with a well taken goal that gave the Tornadoes a deserved moment to celebrate. The Beechy Boys continued to work together and never stopped trying, showing real character throughout the match. Despite the result this was an important learning experience. The team has only been together a couple of months and alread competing in a higher group than they started in which will only help them improve faster. The Boys attitudes were fantastic encouraging teammates, checking on the opposition players who were hurt while representing the club brilliantly. It was great to hear the opposing Team Coach praise the Tornadoes effort and spirit recognising the potential this Beechy team has. Time and experience will bring the rewards. Well Done Tornadoes.
**There was another awesome performance from the Under 9's TORNADOES against a very good Deans Youth Lions team. The progression of this Beechy team both mentally and technically is phenomenial. The Tornadoes shared four goals at full time but lost this Challenge Tournament tie following a penalty shoot-out. Beechy's squad was Cormac, Oscar, Jayden, Ezra, Ellis, Amir, Ralph, Kayden and Alfie. Goalscorers were Ellis, Kayden and Ralph (penalty) while Keeper Cormac made a great penalty save.
**In the Manchester Youth Super League the Under 11's THUNDER (9v9) continued their impressive winning run against BPro FC. There was a top-class performance from all Beechy's players in this cup tie. Thunder were rewarded with eight goals via Man of the Match Edan Sykes (3) David Agbe-Tofunmi (2) Sonny Phillips (2) and Harley Cosgrove-Newby.
**Despite suffering a 4-0 defeat in the Manchester Youth Super League Beechy Under 12's LIGHTNING produced an excellent all-round performance in their Division 2 game with Manchester Polonia. The passing of the ball was much improved from previous games and Lightning were unlucky not to score at least a couple of goals. There were loads of great individual performances but Beechy's stand-out player was Finley Thompson-Hale who reads the game so well and gives the team loads of energy from his right back position.
**Still searching for their first win of the season in the Salford and Districts League are the Under 16's TORNADOES. In Division 1 Beechy were on the wrong end of a 9-1 scoreline. The Tornadoes consolation goal came from a header by Jayden Hoye following Finn Browne's corner.

Five in a Row! Beechfield Boys Dominate with a Masterclass Performance.
On a really nice morning at Beechfield, our boys delivered their best football yet — securing their fifth consecutive league victory in style! From the opening whistle, the team came out hungry, pressing every ball and refusing to let the opponent settle. With Harry commanding the goal, Samuel and William forming a solid defensive wall, and Alvin and Caspian leading the charge up front, the balance between defence and attack was simply perfect.
The first goal came after relentless pressing — Alvin, always alert, capitalised on a defensive mistake and slotted it home beautifully. Moments later, Samuel showed his vision with a perfect through ball to Caspian, who found himself one-on-one and finished calmly for our second. The opponents had a few flashes of danger, but Harry was brilliant, reading the game and coming out at just the right moments to clear the threat. Still, one of those attacks slipped through, giving the other team their first and only goal of the day. Before halftime, Alvin struck again to make it goal number three with another composed finish.
The second half was pure dominance — fast recoveries, quick transitions, and team football at its finest. Kevin came on and made an immediate impact, scoring twice in quick succession after smart recoveries high up the field. Then, in a moment of determination, Samuel carried the ball all the way from defense to attack, finishing with power to grab his first of the match. Moments later, Kevin completed his hat-trick with another sharp finish following a stolen ball in midfield.
When a handball inside the opponent’s box gave us a penalty, Caspian stepped up with confidence and buried it, securing his second of the day. The momentum never faded — the boys kept pressing, passing, and playing beautiful football, with Samuel, Kevin, and Alvin each adding one more to close out a stunning victory.
Every player pressed, passed, and played for each other, showing just how much this group has grown together
MOM: It could have gone either way; everyone collaborated and played as a team to achieve this victory. However, Samuel stood out today for his assists (I didn't count them, but I think there were 3 or 4), passes, and determination throughout. He decided to share the trophy with Caspian, who also had an excellent match, finding space and being constantly alert in attack.
As I said, everyone deserves credit today.
Alvin: Always alert, brilliant ball control, passing, and three excellent finish.
Kevin: As always, pressing at all times, never letting up throughout the entire match.
William: Solid in defence, always with good timing to go for the ball, and good passing.
Jude: Always alert, running up and down the field, recovering balls and making passes.
Harry: He didn't have many opportunities to show off today, however, in every play he had, he showed excellent timing and precision in going for the ball.
**Match Report: Beechfield STORM U8 Victory over Heywood St James.
The Beechfield Storm Squad — Reni, Archie, Ollie, Jett, Louie, and Jaxx — produced a stunning performance to secure a dominant win, showcasing brilliant teamwork, composure, and attacking flair.
From the first whistle, the boys set the tempo, moving the ball quickly and creating wave after wave of chances. Ollie, dazzling on the left wing in his new boots, was unstoppable — netting four goals and tormenting defenders with his pace and skill. Reni added two composed finishes, while Louie and Jett each got on the scoresheet to cap off a superb team effort.
At the back, Jaxx was rock-solid — reading the game superbly and making key tackles to snuff out danger. Every player showed versatility, with all except Jett and Jaxx taking turns in goal and performing impressively when called upon.
The squad’s passing, movement, and energy were outstanding throughout, overwhelming a side who were last season’s BBDFL champions. It was a complete performance — confident, creative, and clinical.
⭐ Player Highlights
• Ollie: 4 goals — electric on the wing, relentless going forward
• Reni: 2 goals — sharp and composed in front of goal
• Louie: 1 goal — clever and creative in attack
• Jett: 2 goals — deadly finishing and great positioning
• Jaxx: Strong defensive display — calm, committed, and reliable
• Archie: Tireless and composed, linking play superbly.

**Deans Panthers v Beechfield United STORM U9s*
⚽️
Alfie x3
James x2
Nathan x1
🅰️
Jose x3
Nathan x2
Storm took the game to Deans with players out and injured - though took a win in their first challenge cup game
Starting with 6 Jose was the brightest having a shot saved from racing through on goal, storm looking good in midfield as Nathan, James with Reggie & Josh regularly hitting down the line and finding their men. Game was opened up as Josh found Jose down the right, crossed in for James to volley in. Shortly after the same scenario though with a tricky high ball James hit over.
Josh assumed control of a loose ball striking well from distance to keep the goal keeper aware.
Alfie entering late to even the teams as Deans started to assume control - a long range shot bouncing off the crossbar threatening a goal for Deans - helped to swing back in our favour. Some of the best football on show - tiki taka esq Reggie starting the attack, playing through to Nathan. Nathan playing quickly on to James on the left who found Jose in the middle playing attacking midfield, thread a ball through to Alfie who slotted to the right of the keeper.
Starting to make use of storms target man for the day, Nathan assumed control of a loose ball playing through to Alfie who delayed his shot, sitting the keeper and placing into the bottom right.
Deans started to get chances towards the end of the half though Vince was rapid off his line showing his 1v1 bravery at the feet of the attackers on more than one occasion.
Nathan hungry to follow up on his goals last game took shot from distance and was parried to James who was on hand to guide the ball into the top of the net.
A fifth could’ve been taken with Jose creating again on the left, James poking through to Nathan who blasted over.
The fifth came in the second half, Nathan winning back the ball, approaching on goal and hitting the ball from distance to the top right corner with an arrow of a shot - chances came shortly after with Josh making his way into the box and smacking the ball off a heroic
Storm rotating players and eager to score were pushing up against 8 men finally told despite Vincent’s heroics - showed with the ball spilling to the striker of Deans with Vincent still getting a hand to it. Another chance flashed off the post from a shot to the right as well as another chance being stopped with George racing back to make an important challenge.
The game was wrapped as Jose battled down the left, cut in swinging cross - VAR may have been required as Alfie lifted the ball into the net from point blank range though unclear as to whether the ball had crossed the line. Referee had given the goal to Alfie though Jose took his 3rd assist of the game in the move.
Overall another great performance with every player putting the team first.
MOTM:
*Alfie* - produced a strong performance upfront, usually a goal keeper though has been doing a job for the team with players out - he scored a hattrick, consistently battled against two defenders winning the ball back and always looking to pass & create space for his team mates.
POTM:
*Jose* - all over today though impressively showed a completely different side to his game today, assuming midfield roles, creative and purposeful down the wing, hitting a hattrick of assists with an excellent performance.

**Beechfield United STORM U/12's 2-0 Coach Hene Eagles*
In the reverse fixture of our first away game and only defeat of the season the Beechy U12 boys came into the game with determination to avenge the previous loss.
The game started and was end to end but the Coach Hene side settled quicker and were more dominant despite not creating a great deal, mostly due to some fantastic defending by our brick wall at the back in Harry Wharton, Harvey King, and Jack Sinclair and when they did break through our keeper Jay Royale, who is probably the best I’ve seen at this age group was impenetrable. Beechy did get to grips with their style and started to utilise our strengths and when the ball was won back by Harry Wharton he played the ball into Midfield for Joel Momoh who found Ismail Adetona, he beat his man one on one and rolled the ball past the keeper from an impossible angle. A goal against the run of play slightly but certainly one we had threatened and despite all Coach Henes pressure Beechy were carving out the better chances with Austin, Ismail and Barkley looking dangerous going forward.
Coming in at HT the boys were fired up, they knew we were in a proper game and we sent them out into the second half with the message, more of the same.
Into the second half it felt a much more even game, Beechy looking really dangerous on the break but failing to make some really dangerous looking play count and Coach Hene always looking a threat with their pace. The Beechy back line was again proving to be impenetrable and the odd time they did get through Jay was more than equal to it. Then the breakthrough came, Barkley showing skill and aggression driving into the box and was taken out by the defender to win us a stone wall penalty, Ismail stepped up and side footed the bottom corner to give us a 2-0 lead. As the half drew to a close we went to a back 4 and that just shut the door and the Coach Hene threat, the Beechy boys managed the game so well and that’s how it ended.
Man of the match today goes to Harry Wharton, he was a rock at the back the whole game but all the back line were fantastic and Jay Royale gets a special mention after a goalkeeping performance way beyond his years, putting his body on the line and pulling off some fantastic saves
We faced a high flying Boothstown side today looking for an improved performance after last week's heavy defeat in the cup, and we certainly got one.
Despite the gulf between the sides in league table positioning we played the game on the front foot from the off and were camped in the Boothstown half in the opening exchanges. Dawood Fakeeh, Grayson Evans and Josh Green all had half chances and our corner count in the first half must have been pushing double figures. Despite some dangerous corner kicks from Ryan Cordingley we were unable to capitalise on our dominance, as Boothstown managed to clear their lines each time. Boothstown were clearly getting frustrated at creating virtually nothing in the first half with keeper Reuben McCormick and defenders Alex McGrory, Jayden Lowe, Aidan Thompson and Ryan Cordingley superbly composed at the back. Boothstown's frustrations got to their heads on a couple of occasions in the first half and a couple of their players were booked. The 2nd of these bookings was for an atrocious 2 footed lunge on Ryan Cordingley who was having a great game for us but unfortunately had to go off injured. It was a tackle which bordered assault, but as we've seen before in the junior leagues the referees struggle to be able to produce red cards for pure acts of thuggery such as this. The tackle saw tensions boil over on the pitch, on the touchline and amongst the parents, but the game continued.
Just before half time Boothstown took the lead against the run of play. They forced a rare corner, we struggled to clear our lines and the Boothstown scored with a scruffy deflected effort. At half time we somehow trailed 1-0.
During the break our players were angry at being behind and at the aforementioned injustice. We spoke about not getting dragged down by the controversy and channelling our frustrations into getting back into the game which we knew we were capable of doing.
Again we were the better side after the interval. Grayson Evans had a chance to equalise but put it just wide. Boothstown then made it 2-0 with a similarly scruffy effort which just crept in at the far post. This was now a test for the team, would they crumble as we have seen on occasion, or keep playing their football and battling away? Thankfully it was the latter. Grayson played a superb through ball to Josh Green who finished sharply to make it 2-1. We continued to press and it was only a matter of time before we equalised. Eventually it came when the same 2 players Grayson and Josh linked up with Josh scoring his 2nd of the game and his 5th in 3 mayches for us to make it 2-2.
We sensed blood and continued to create chances towards the end. Mason Stockton threatened in midfield and Harry Myddelton forced a great save from the Boothstown keeper. Then we thought we had won it when Josh had an effort for his hattrick which was agonisingly hacked off the line by the Boothstown defender.
The last 5 minutes were end to end as Boothstown also saught a winner. In our eagerness to secure victory we were caught on the counter attack with no more than 2 minutes remaining and Boothstown snatched a late goal on the break to win the match 3-2. The Beechy players were distraught.
Neutrals at the match commented that they could not tell which side was near the top and who was near the bottom of the table today. Despite the footballing gods not shining on us, it was a superb performance, and we know we really should have won.
Tornadoes Manager Frank McGrory said he was proud of all the players today and that they must try and play at this level in the upcoming matches, if they do then the results will come. Player of the match was between 3 players. Josh Green could have had it again with 2 great goals, as could Grayson Evans with 2 sublime assists. But player of the match went to Beechy captain Alex McGrory, playing in central defense today, a position he is not keen on. He read the game superbly and remained calm and composed throughout the chaos, stopping many Boothstown attacks before they started and starting many attacks of our own. Well done Alex but more importantly well done team, you were terrific today, let's use this as a springboard for the rest of the season. ⚽️👕
*In the Bolton Bury and Districts League The Under 18's HURRICANES were involved in a 5-5 draw away against FC Bridgewater. The Hurricanes goalscorers were Glenn Teppa (3) who netted his hat-trick from corners taken by Luke Kennedy plus Kane Wood (penalty) and Karo Ibodje.
