** U10s League Match
BEECHFIELD UTD LIGHTNING v 3–1 Winton Wanderers Comets
Beechfield Lightning made the perfect start to the season with an impressive 3–1 victory over Winton Wanderers Comets, producing an attacking display full of energy, chances and plenty of ⚡ Lightning!
The Beechy boys came flying out of the blocks, putting the Comets under pressure from the very first whistle. Chance after chance came in the opening ten minutes, and eventually the pressure paid off when Elliot broke the deadlock with a neat finish from the right wing to give Lightning a deserved lead.
At the back, Angelo and Bodie remained solid and composed, controlling the game and keeping the Comets' attacks at bay. In midfield, Toby and Finley dictated the play, moving the ball brilliantly and creating numerous opportunities, while also testing the Comets keeper on several occasions.
Bobby was called into action a handful of times and responded superbly, making some excellent saves whenever the Comets threatened.
Up front, Moretti was a constant menace and came agonisingly close to getting on the scoresheet before the break. Lightning continued to dominate the play, with the Comets struggling to cope with the waves of attacking football.
The second half began in much the same fashion, and Lightning quickly doubled their advantage. Jayden produced a sumptuous finish to make it 2–0, setting the tone for another dominant half.
Brayden then began to dance his way through midfield, unleashing shot after shot and forcing the Comets keeper into some fine saves. Alvin also produced some storming runs down the wing and was desperately unlucky not to add his name to the scoresheet.
Lightning's persistence eventually paid off once again. Determined to get his goal, Moretti finally found the net with a lovely finish following yet another Lightning attack to make it 3–0.
The Comets managed to sneak a late consolation goal, but the final whistle couldn't come soon enough for them. Lightning had created an incredible number of chances and, on another day, could easily have found themselves into double figures.
A fantastic all-round performance from the Beechy boys, with every player contributing to a thoroughly deserved opening-day victory.

A superb captain's performance in the heart of midfield. Toby led by example, dictating the game and helping drive Lightning to an excellent start to the season.

Storm U10s carried on where last seasons cup success ended with a polished performance full of skill and effort.
No starting GK today so we mixed about the GK duties and some positions as we were slightly thin on the ground .

The game started against a very competitive winton team , Storm had early chances through good interplay in defence with Josh and Rio feeding Jacob and James who set Imad away a couple of times but the Winton keeper was on form with a few impressive saves.
The deadlock was broken by a relentless Imad pressing from the right winning the ball and slotting home for 1 nil.
The second wasn't far away as Rio won the ball excellently in defence and threaded Imad away who battled well to get control and finished low to the right bottom corner.
Our goals and over confidence then cost us.. as over commitment from our own attacking corner left a gaping hole on the break and Winton took advantage..breaking on our defence with a low finish for 2-1.
A switch of keeper then put James in net and Arman manning the midfield . The next 10 mins were a real battle and the game see-sawed , lots of effort and dribbles on the right and left from Jose and Max to no avail with no real clear cut chances.
The 3rd goal came from a long Winton shot and a good James save ...quick thinking James then played an ederson-like thru ball to set imad free who finished expertly . Half time 3-1.
The second half started with 2 quickfire Storm goals, the first Josh played a zipping fast ball to James in the box who controlled and smashed past the keeper. The second came from the ensuing kick off with the tenacious Arman winning the ball and driving toward the winton goal, supported on the right by Max who positioned himself perfectly for the cross, Arman slid Max in, and Max finshed powerfully across the keeper.
Winton then brought pressure as Beechy tired with limited subs available, Imad now in net made some good saves with Rio and Josh won every battle at the back. Winton did get a second through an unfortunate deflected shot which went so high in came down with snow on it .. and looped into the top corner .
Reggie then took a stint in net and was combative as ever, making a few saves as Winton pushed .
Beechy got a 6th to make it 6-2 as James dribbled on the break to the right side of the Winton box, squared to Arman, who had made an intelligent run to the penalty spot, and Arman smashed the ball in the bottom right side of the net.

Rio - his first league game for Storm , won every battle , cleared his lines well but also made intelligent passes when needed , very solid , a great debut .
Manager Player of the Match-
A close call as could have gone to anyone today ...Josh a good shout, reliable as ever... James was close with goals assists and keeping saves ... but it had to goto....
Imad ... the best player on the pitch today, was so sharp, effort, attitude were perfect...he kept his cool even with a few cynical fouls against him at the end ...great performance Imad .
Good start from U10 storm against a good Winton side ...attitude was on point from everyone with outfiled players stepping up in net, attackers playing fillinh in defence and midfield when rests were needed for others.
**BEECHFIELD LIGHTNING U/9's v Swinton Scorpions
Swinton Scorpions U9 defeated Beechfield Lightning U9 6-0 in an entertaining local derby that marked Lightning's first-ever competitive football match. Despite the scoreline, the debutants put in a highly spirited performance, showing immense work rate and flashes of real quality against a very well-organised Scorpions outfit.
First Half: Clinical Scorpions Take Control
The match began with early pressure from the Scorpions, forcing Lightning goalkeeper Lucas into a smart, confident save to set the tone. Lightning's defensive unit was immediately put to the test, but Carter led by example with a series of strong, timed tackles, while Isaac caught the eye with some excellent tracking and tackling.
As the half progressed, the Scorpions' clinical edge began to show. They opened the scoring with a sweet strike to make it 1-0, quickly following it up with a composed finish for 2-0. Lightning refused to let their heads drop, with Henry working tirelessly across the pitch and Hugh using excellent footwork to weave out of tight spaces and escape multiple challenges. Nathan almost pulled one back, unleashing a powerful shot that was brilliantly stopped by the Scorpions' goalkeeper.
However, the Scorpions punished Lightning late in the half. Intense closing down high up the pitch led to a third goal, before a spectacular long-range finish made it 4-0 to the Scorpions just before the referee blew for half-time.
Second Half: Lightning Fight Back with Pride
The Scorpions started the second half just as sharply, adding a fifth via a scrappy goal in the box, and a sixth with a powerful finish into the roof of the net to make it 6-0.
From that point on, Lightning turned up the intensity and dominated large spells of play, refusing to be beaten. Rupert showcased brilliant footwork to win the ball and slide a perfectly weighted pass down the line to Nathan. Henry then lit up the pitch with a dazzling individual run, beating three Scorpions defenders before the opposing keeper rushed off his line to make a brave save.
At the other end, Lucas pulled off a sensational double save to deny the Scorpions a seventh, backed up by Carter who produced a crucial, robust clearance to completely snuff out the danger. Isaac also epitomised the team's grit, showing immense bravery in the 50/50 challenges.
Lightning pushed hard for the goal their performance deserved. Nathan was a constant threat, firing a long-range effort just wide before forcing a corner with another stinging shot. Nathan then delivered a superb corner into the box, where Hugh came agonisingly close to poking it home. Hugh and Carter also tested the Scorpions from distance with ambitious efforts that just missed the target.
While the clinical Scorpions took the victory, it was an incredibly proud debut for Beechfield Lightning. Facing a sharp, established team in their very first match, Lightning showed fantastic teamwork, defensive resilience, and a determination that bodes very well for the rest of their inaugural season.
POTM: Lucas - the score could have been double without his agility, bravery and athleticism.

Opening win for Thunder in a tough match after a slow start from the Thunder Boys who at one point where trailing 3-0 the boys dug deep and stuck to game plan and started showing a lot energy on and off the ball and got themselves back into the game in the second half with some nice link up play and scoring four unanswered goals to take the lead, the final ten minutes of the match Thunder dominated scoring another four goals in quick succession and taking the win.
Player of the Match was Debutant Callum who slotted straight into the squad with a strong performance at the back.
**BEECHFIELD UTD TORNADOES 1-2 Boothstown U13 Hornets

Today saw the first game of the U13 Season for the Tornadoes, looking to bring our decent form from the back end of last season into the new campaign. We welcomed new signing Harrison Doherty into the squad for his first league match.
Tornadoes started brightly and dominated the early stages as we had done in our pre season friendlies. We had some early half chances before Alex McGrory played Jack Costello in on the right, Jack superbly found Grayson Evans at the back post who fired home. 1-0 Beechy. We then came close to a 2nd, Jack Costello narrowly heading over a Jack Sinclair corner, we were well on top.
Midway through the half Boothstown had their first attempt but shot wide when clean through off a long kick from their keeper, a let off for Beechy. We continued to attack and a long range Jack Sinclair effort was fumbled by the Boothstown keeper and poked home by Dawood Fakeeh, we thought we were 2-0 up, and with Boothstown about to take kick off the ref belatedly decided Dawood was offside and the score remained only 1-0.
There was further confusion shortly after when a Beechy throw in was changed to a Boothstown throw in on our left. Boothstown broke up the other end and found their striker unmarked at the back post who made no mistake and made it 1-1, which was the score at half time. We were much the better side but somehow we went in level.
The 2nd half saw Boothstown improve and there wasnt much in the game. Boothstown thought they had taken the lead but like us earlier, they saw their goal disallowed for offside. Both teams struggled to create clear cut chances, but at times we found ourselves out of position when attacking and defending, and in all honesty Boothstown looked fitter than us, and probably the more likely to find the winning goal. To the dismay of the Tornadoes, Boothstown did get a winning goal about 10 minutes from the end. An error at the back saw their striker clean through on our keeper Ty Dobson, and Ty had no chance as Boothstown took a 2-1 lead.
We tried in vain to equalise during the last 10 minutes but struggled to create chances as we had in the first half, and Boothstown held on for a 2-1 win. A draw would have been a fair result over the course of the game, something the Boothstown coach admitted, but just like in our two friendly matches this week our performance levels dropped in the 2nd half.
Player of the Match was close between Jack Sinclair and Alex McGrory, who ran their hearts out throughout, with Alex just pipping Jack to the award this week. Well done Alex!
A tale of two halves today, we can count ourselves unlucky not to get a point overall but we need to work on our fitness and be better in the 2nd half of games, starting next week. Unlucky boys, we go again next week. 👕

First game for our newly formed team. Most kids are playing up a year and are playing football for the first time which doesn’t show in the performances and dedication on the pitch.
First half
The match started with both sides playing strong with the ball back and forth from each end of the pitch. Moorside took an early lead and continued to attack as we held the defensive line strong and the keeper made some great saves. Unfortunately the keeper took a shot to the face and had to be subbed off being replaced with one of the defenders who also made some great saves but struggled to keep the ball out of the back of the net at times. 6-0 as the half time whistle was blown.
Second half
Beechfield came out strong and felt more determined to get back into the game. We pressed the ball any chance we could which led to a great run resulting in our first goal. Unfortunately our replacement keeper also took a shot to the face resulting in a third change for the man between the sticks. This time one of our midfielders put on the gloves and did well in an unknown position. After a good save we attacked their defence, this lead to free kick to us just outside the box. An excellent free kick was taken hitting the back of the net. 6-2. Towards the end of the game Moorside managed another 2 goals, match ending 8-2.
Man of the Match (Girl of the Match) Millie, she did a great job in defence and wasn’t afraid to put a tackle in against the boys. She sat back all game and her presence on the pitch gave our players the confidence to go higher up the field knowing Millie was behind them.
Wasn’t the result we wanted for the first game of the season but we go again.
**Beechfield lighning u13 - 2 v Skfc Greys 5
Top performance from the boys today agains one of the leagues strongest teams. Matteo la Rana got us off to a flying start with a superb solo goal, dribbling from the half way line and smashing a pile driver into the top corner. We kept the lead for 35 mins but unfortunately we couldnt hold on, we conceded the next 3 goals.
The boys didnt give up, again, Matteo la Rana popped up with another goal to make it 3-2 with 6 minutes to play.
I decided to change the formation and gamble for the equalizer but it wasnt to be, even tho we created a few decent chances the Greys got the rub of the green and went on to kill the game off.
Very very unucky today, we played excellent.
We lost to this team twice last season both by double figures so we are already showing massive improvement.

BEECHFIELD UTD U/12's STORM v Cherrybrook Predators
This is championship level so, league below black (which is the top league).
If we continue playing as we did we will be fine this season! Great effort from all of them!
Shoutout to Mo in his first game who was a big threat for us upfront.
Worked so hard for the team!
Oscar Bobby was fantastic in defence today and should be very proud of his performance today!
Amos was great in goal, best I’ve seen him play.

Oscar P was best I’ve seen him play in a long while, great wing play! Very proud of his performance. The other team were targeting him quite a bit. Just needs to control his temper!

**Cradley FC v BEECHFIELD UTD TORNADOES U/14's
**Well, a tough game today as expected. Playing against a very good side.
They played some lovely football, 1 touch at times and very well drilled. Played through the lines and sometimes just have to say the better side won.
However, I can’t fault our lads attitudes and effort as they didn’t give up and continued to play to the very end.
8 of their lads played for Preston district, Chorley and 1 at Fleetwood. So they are high level.
It was a real baptism of fire today playing against one of the best sides around the northwest.
I told the lads to forget about the scoreline. Pick themselves up and go again next week.
Shoutouts to Harvey who did well, made some decent saves and kicking was good. It was relentless at times.
Kian too, did not give in today on that left hand side. Had a tough gig against their right side. He linked up well with Archie at times. Drove forward with the ball.
Chris deserved to get his goal after a tireless performance. He worked so hard for the team.
We don’t lose, we learn and we go again next week and aim to do better! Thanks for the support!
