- Junior/Youth Match Details 12/9/2026
On the second Saturday of the 2026/2027 Season several Beechy Mini-Soccer teams produced excellent overall performances.
**Beechfield United U/8's LIGHTNING came flying out the blocks in their away game with Swinton Lions taking the lead inside 3 minutes through Caspian and never looking back. A wonderful Leo free-kick made it 2–0 before Logan took centre stage with a clinical hat-trick. Annabelle, Anthony and Damian all got in on the act too — showing just how dangerous this whole team is going forward. Swinton Lions kept fighting and grabbed two goals of their own, but it was Beechfield's day — a dominant display in the Challenge Cup! 🏆
Very close call to give but Annabelle pipped to Player of the Match.

From the very first whistle, this was an absolute end-to-end battle! Both teams went at it with great attacking intent while also putting in some brilliant defensive work.
The opposition struck first and opened the scoring to make it 1–0. We kept our composure, continued playing our football and started finding some excellent passes. Confidence began to grow as we pushed further and further into the opposition half, putting them under some serious pressure. Unfortunately, the opposition managed to break away and caught us on the counter, driving towards our goal and scoring again.
We switched ourselves back on, started playing with even more attacking intent and our defenders worked incredibly hard to sit back, protect our keeper and give us the platform to push forward.
Kyson produced a great challenge, winning the ball back before driving forward towards the opposition goal. He spotted his opportunity and scored a lovely goal.
We won the ball back straight from kick off increased the pressure leading to another goal.
What followed was some fantastic attacking football from both teams which brought an end to the first half (2-2 at half time)
We came out for the second half focused, and applied the pressure once again. Mo went down when attacking the defence, took his chance with the free kick and slotted it in the top corner of the net.
For a short period, we switched off slightly and started sitting back rather than driving forward. The opposition took advantage, countered and managed to score more goals, putting us under pressure.
We found our feet again and started playing with confidence. We began feeding the ball forward whenever we had chance which lead to more great goals. The momentum was back with us, and we now had a winning scoreline to protect.
The final stages became incredibly tense. We adopted a more defensive approach, sitting deeper and trying to manage the game while the opposition continued to push forward. For the remainder of the game, we didn’t allow the opposition anywhere near our net. We stood strong, protected the lead and saw the game through.
A brilliant performance from Kyson and a very well-deserved MOTM! 🏆⭐
Every single player contributed to this victory — whether that was through defending, attacking, pressing, making tackles, creating chances, scoring goals or simply following instructions when the game needed to be managed.

A tale of two halves and a big difference from last week with Thunder getting the win against a competitive Moorside team these games are always a great spectacle between both sides and a lot of respect for each other, Thunder started strong keeping the ball and frustrating Moorside with there passing and finding the right pass into the box. Goalscorers for Thunder where Aldo Gannon with a Hat-Trick and Callum Davies one, a great attacking performance from the home team putting constant pressure on the away team Moorside came back into the game with the extra man on the field and got a few goals back but credit to the boys they held on for the win a special mention to Parker Haworth who led the attacks from the back and his defensive duties did not go unnoticed and Thunders Player of the Match Freddie Tipton who has been really consistent and getting his crossess in to the box and linking up in attack to help his team. Two wins for Thunder who will start getting there rhythm as the season goes on.
**BEECHFIELD UTD LIGHTNING U9s v 2-4 Winton Wanderers Jets
The fixture began with a poignant moment of reflection, as both teams impeccably observed a one-minute silence in memory of Winton’s Under 18s coach. The respectful conduct of both sets of players set an exemplary tone for the match ahead.
Winton Wanderers started the game at a frantic pace, catching Beechfield early to secure the opening goal. Lightning responded brilliantly; Henry drove forward on a superb individual run, showing great composure to slot home the equaliser.
As the half progressed, Beechfield found their rhythm. Lucas produced a brave, crucial save in goal, while Isaac looked dangerous with an excellent run down the left flank.
Defensively, Hugh anchored the side with perfectly timed tackles, and Rupert provided stability with strong defensive stops and composed passing out from the back.
A highly competitive first half drew to a close with the sides locked at 1-1 at half-time.
Winton managed to regain the lead early in the second half with a smart, clinical finish. However, Beechfield came out fighting. Hugh tested the Winton goalkeeper with a powerful shot from distance and narrowly missed a second effort that flew just wide.
The pressure paid off when goalkeeper Lucas launched an excellent, deep distribution kick into space. Isaac anticipated it perfectly, outrunning the defence to finish clinically and level the score at 2-2.
As the half wore on, the physical toll began to show. Beechfield fought valiantly with a bare squad of five players and no available substitutes, compared to Winton's fresh legs and three rotating replacements.
Henry, Hugh, and Isaac put in a tremendous shift with competitive tackling across the midfield, while Rupert read the game brilliantly to maintain his defensive positioning.
Despite Lightning's immense battling spirit, Winton ultimately exploited the space left by a tiring home side, sealing the victory with two late, clinical counter-attack goals.
Though the result went in favour of the visitors, the five Lightning players showed immense bravery and courage in what was only their second ever competitive match.

Storm blew Deans away with a second concecutive win taking their goal scoring tally to 20 across two games.
Playing 6v6 and no goal keeper all the lads stepped up, each getting a goal while playing excellent football for the most part.
Storm showed what they were about straight from the off, captain Josh was told to move from defence to midfield during the game and took it right away, Jose playing across to Josh who struck from the edge of the box. Straight after Jose again at the heart dinked through Max who followed up on his goal from last week with another.
Last weeks man of the match Rio was conducting from the back, won the ball, played through Max who’s sharp finishing saw his brace. The play was brilliant and now with Arman on the field skipped down the right, played through Max who’s cross shot deflected to Jose getting on the scoresheet.
The onslaught continued as James flung in a corner, bouncing at the back post and Arman struck on the half volley into the back of the net from inside the box.
Storm were lax and with James now at the back tending to a fallen player saw deans pour forward and put it past Jacob who had rotated in goal.
More chances came as James picked up the ball in defence, strode forward and played through max - all the time in the world but unfortunately struck wide.
Storm woke back up and it was Arman again who drifted on the right, crossed in finding Max again who made no mistake this time scoring his hattrick just before half time.
Some changes rung in with Jay arriving to man the sticks - Jacob who had been chomping at the bit exclaiming he hadn’t a goal or an assist took the game by the scruff of the net, driving through the heart of midfield and playing over to James who’s strike deflected in.
After this we saw a slight lull with chances going to Arman who hit the crossbar & posts & players shooting from distance. With some gentle encouragement (as always) from sidelines we saw Storm refocus and get back on the scoring train.
Josh now back on the field won the ball from deep, played James who struck magnificently finding the top corner from well outside the box.
Jacob now in full swing won the ball in midfield straight from a goal kick, strode forward and looked to try beat James’s strike slamming the ball in from distance himself.
Jay now out of goal looked to make an immediate impact on the game; troubling the goal keeper with a couple of shots with one somehow not going in as it ricocheted off a couple of players. He did get the opportunity to push to the bye line squeezed it across to Rio in the middle who took his goal well & his first for the Storm!
Pushing up storm were done again as with all of the team committed a stray winger of deans took the ball wide on the right finishing well from distance.
The reaction was exactly what Storm expected - Jay again took the ball from Jacob in the middle, unselfishly played across the goal to Max to tap in. Max almost immediately returned the favour by playing through Jay who hit the ball bottom corner.
Finally James struck from distance deflecting over the goal keeper for his own hattrick!!
Undeniably a strong performance with every single player getting on the scoresheet today.
*MOTM*
Players voted for *Max* who had an absolutely barnstorming performance - 5 goals and 2 assists & could’ve even had more!
*Parents player*
Votes went out to James for an all round performance who it could easily had gone to , Jay who had a fantastic half in goal & outfield though captain for the day *Josh* was excellent today - defended like his life depended on it contributed goals and was the heartbeat of the team from the back.
**BEECHFIELD UTD U13's TORNADOES 1 v 4 Swinton U13 Warriors
⚽️ Josh Green
🅰️ Alex McGrory
🏅 (Not awarded today)
We went into our 2nd match of the season looking for a better result after the opening week loss. Again we started brightly and Josh Green was played through on 2 separate occasions each time holding off his man really well but agonisingly shot wide. Josh was played through again by Alex McGrory after Alex won the tackle in midfield and this time made no mistake as Tornadoes deservedly led 1-0, we were well on top.
Swinton had offered nothing all half but were awarded a penalty following a handball off a corner. Their striker blazed the spot kick wide however, a let off for Beechy. We continued to dominate the half, Grayson Evans played Josh through but again the shot went just wide, before Josh hit the post following a mix up at the back for Swinton. We were by far the better team and it was no exaggeration to say we easily should have been 4 or 5 goals up at the break. Instead we only led by the solitary goal.
We spoke at half time about keeping the levels up, especially after our recent 2nd half drop offs in performance. Unfortunately, we let ourselves down yet again in the 2nd period. Swinton who had offered nothing all first half had 2 early chances, before they grabbed the equaliser after we failed to clear on our left hand side. Swinton gained confidence after the equaliser and were now the better team after our heads started to drop. They scored another 2 in quick succession to lead 3-1 and Beechy struggled to create at all in the 2nd half. Dawood Fakeeh had a great chance to make it 3-2 but shot straight at the keeper from about 6 yards out. Swinton made it 4-1 and the game was already over when we were awarded a last minute penalty and the chance of a consolation. Like Swinton in the first half, we missed our penalty, which summed up a miserable 2nd half. Final score 1-4.
Yet again another game of two halves, good first half, poor second half. We should have been out of sight at half time. Our levels dropped worryingly after the break, a habit we need to find a way to get out of ASAP. No player of the match was awarded today.

Another great performance from the boys today, we scored 3 good goals and we played some lovely football.
The scoreline doesnt do us justice as we were very much in the game up until the 45 minute mark.
I just feel like we are chasing the game to much in the later stages.
Well done to all the boys we are improving every week !!
