- Beechy Storm secure 3-2 Friendly Match Victory
There was no offical MSMFL fixture for Beechy Open Age Storm so a Friendly Match was arranged with Atherton Town and Storm won the contest 3-2.
*Storm from Division 2 were in action away to their Division 1 opponents and Harry Officer went close to giving Beechy an early lead. After turning the screw Atherton took the lead following a corner and the hosts controlled the game mainly due to some good passing. Storm won a penalty for handball after an effort by Caleb Hoyes and Joe Northall equalised when he made no mistake with the resulting spot-kick. In the second half Beechy had the wind in their favour and a mix up in the Atherton defence allowed Connor Gibbs to round the keeper and give Storm the lead. Beechy were winning the second ball challenges before Atherton Town scored off another corner to make it 2-2. The goal of the game proved to be Storm's match winner when a move through midfield was finished by Joe Northall who stroked the ball home into the bottom corner of the net. Cole Higson fired an effort straight at the hosts keeper before Alan Kay and Max O'Brien had good chances to add further goals. This was a great performance from Storm with every player producing a battling display. The referee's choice for Man of the Match was Will Hibbs.
