Saturday 15th February, Moorside High School, KO 10am, Supplementary Cup.

With only 5 players available, out of a squad of 11, for a 7 a side game, the writing was always going to be on the wall.

Sadly, I missed the game, due to other commitments, but I'm reliably informed that grown men and women wept.

Obviously, some of the boys, who were present let their heads drop. But, in mitigation, we've been in the wrong division all season, now the wrong Supp Cup group, and it's a credit to the boys that they've manfully struggled on.

It hasn't been easy for anyone!

Now's the time to take stock, re-group and aim to finish the season playing good, passing football and preparing for next season and 9 a side football.

Having been a coach for 8 years now, I can honestly say that the jump from 7 a side to 9 a side is the biggest transition the boys will have to face.

9 a side is the beginnings of proper, big boys football and we'll have to work very hard to get the lads ready for September 2020. And we're going to need more players.

A squad of 11 will be too thin. So please (parents) keep on the look out and ask around, school friends etc.
