POSTED: January 25 2020 17:43:56 By Richard James - SWINTON LIONS V TORNADOES

Saturday 25th January, Barton Road, KO 10am, League.

Our final league game in Division Two, saw us paired off with Swinton Lions before the Supplementary Cup begins.

And although we have enjoyed some success against the Lions, alas this encounter was to prove to be anything but a success.

Falling behind to an early goal, after 9 seconds, the pattern for the game was to be set.

Sadly, I wasn't present and therefore I can only report back on what I heard. And unfortunately, what I heard wasn't heart warming or encouraging.

The boys were largely, with a few notable exceptions, lethargic, timid and often uninterested.

I know that most of the attendant observers were shocked and or disappointed by the lack of fight and effort. I also know that a lot of the boys were hurt by this performance, therefore, I'm hoping that it will act as a spur for the up and coming Supplementary Cup games.

We have our pride to play for and I know that, on their day, the boys are capable of causing a shock.

So let's rally for the the next few matches so that, when we do get back to league action, we'll be ready to compete, at a more suitable level, and we can salvage something from the rest of the season!

No MOTM was awarded but Oscar Mather did register an excellent consolation goal.
