What a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon, as the Tornadoes put in arguably their best performance of the season so far.
On a pitch that didn't do the boys any justice, we faced up to the might of Macabbi Tigers. And although our opponents were ultimately well beaten, they did provide a stern test, particularly early on in the match.
However, the back 3 of Eddie, George and Dylan were very organised and dealt exceptionally well with the threat. I was especially impressed with that defensive unit and was very taken with their composure on the ball.
The midfield were also excellent with Josh and Finn really putting a shift in and working the flanks. I also thought that Feranmi and Stewart were very good, along with Reece and Bailey too. However, special mention to Martin, who slotted in seamlessly and had a superb game, notching a hat trick in the process. Honestly, I could watch Martin all day when he moves with the ball. It's almost balletic! Welcome home Martin.
Up front, Logan worked hard and nearly snaffled a goal from Finn's effort, which we think had already crossed the line.
Jack too had a good game and although rarely troubled kept his concentration and commanded his area very well. I also thought his goal kicking and distribution were spot on.
Overall, brilliant stuff from everyone and a joy to watch. Stewart ran riot (5 goals) and also in a display of marked maturity, really looked after Feranmi in midfield. A lot of the boys are starting to grow up a bit now and that looking out for each other is a key factor in developing a sense of team ethic.
So, congratulations boys on a great victory. You deserve all the plaudits and you made myself, Richard and Wayne extremely proud.
