In our previous two encounters against Kingsway, we suffered very narrow defeats and left the game each time wondering where it went wrong.
This time, I knew exactly where it went wrong.
After the disappointment of a postponed game against Signol and the abject collapse against Swinton, I was actually very optimistic about our chances. I thought the lads would give me a response.
Certainly, we got off to a great start. Confidence was high and we looked very much in control. Sadly though, as the tie wore on the Referee started to lose control and unfortunately we suffered as a consequence.
Without labouring the point, we were incredibly unlucky to be breached and some of the decisions the Ref made cost us dearly.
Sadly for us, once we got to the second half, we ran out of steam and the gap in quality was too big to bridge.
On another day, we might have had the breaks and things could have fallen for us, but it wasn't to be.
But to be fair to our lads, I don't think I could have asked them to do anymore. I told them I expected a reaction and to a man they all gave me one and they tried their best.
So sadly now, I'd say that was our Cup defence over. I can't see us making the final now after 3 defeats. So we play our remaining cup games, trying our best as the competition demands and we try and finish as high as we can in the league.
Ultimately, we're in a bad spell at the moment but we can come good again. We've got some very talented players, with great attitudes and fighting spirits. Pick yourselves up boys and we'll go again! There's plenty to play for!
