- U8 STORM V U8 TORNADOES
Monday 26th March, KD Sports, KO 7pm, Friendly.
After a couple of weeks of no games it was great to get the boys back in to action.
5 of our lads, Oliver, Stewart, George, Flinn and Alfie, along with loanee William (from Monton Lions), lined up to face the might of a full Storm squad.
Once again the pace was frenetic with the Tornadoes really looking up for it!
The pace, power and strength on the ball, particularly from George and Stewart, was breathtaking.
Despite having lot of the ball though, the lads were finding it difficult to penetrate the stout Storm defence.
Therefore, it was with some relief that in the dying seconds, of the first half, Flinn found the net with a smashing finish. He'd worked hard all game and I was delighted that he got his first goal of the season!
The second half saw Storm increase the pressure and being honest they were terribly unlucky not to equalise and go ahead.
However, we rode it out and added to the scoreline with great goals from William, Alfie and a brace for Stewart.
Again to be fair, the scoreline probably flattered us a bit, but Oliver did pull off at least 3 brilliant saves. Flinn again worked hard for the team and passed the ball intelligently. Stewart and George are just forces of nature! William is a lovely player who would grace any team in the league. However, MOTM had to go to Alfie for a responsible, selfless display. His discipline in staying back was superb, his passing and vision excellent and his willingness and maturity in sacrificing his attacking instincts, for the good of the team, greatly appreciated by Richard and myself.
