- Senior Section Match Details 5/4/2021
Beechfield United's Senior Section players were glad to back on the pitch after the lockdown. There was a league game for The Aces while The A Team arranged a Friendly Match with Moorside Rangers.
In the Manchester Saturday Morning Football League The Aces were at home to Fielden Park and after securing a 3-1 victory moved into a mid-table position. Harry Halsey gave the Aces the lead following a free kick and always the better team Beechy should have been more than 1-0 up at half time. In the second half Fielden Park equalised from a free kick and the visitors continued to use the long ball option as their preferred style of play. The Aces remained in control and regained the lead thanks to another well executed free kick by Man of the Match Harry Halsey. Completing the scoring was Nathan Haslam who's decisive finish guaranteed the Aces a fully deserved three points. Beechy now have a succession of four away games and will be looking to maintain the winning formula.
United's Senior A Team organised a Friendly Match with local rivals Moorside Rangers and following a first-class all-round display won the game 3-0. During a lively start in what prove to be an entertaining contest Rangers applied some early pressure but Bradley Hodges, Kyle Galbraith and Deren Saunders produced some excellent defending. United took the lead in the 5th minute courtesy of a neat and decisive finish from Zar Jordan but Rangers responded with some more quick passing moves which heavily involved the hosts No7 & No15. The rapid action switched constantly from end to end and more solid defending from United gave good protection for keeper Jason Rodgers who made a fine save after eighteen minutes to keep out an effort from the Rangers No9. A couple of minutes later a terrific move between Keenan Switzer, Callum Davies and Josh Main-Quinn almost rewarded Beechy with a second goal.
As Rangers continued to enjoy a decent share of the ball United's excellent work rate all over the pitch limited their opponents to just a handful of goal scoring opportunities. Beechy who began the second half with just their one goal advantage were quickly on defensive duty but once again Kyle Galbraith and Deren Saunders defended superbly. Nathan Bester, Ben Walker and Kane Rowley replaced Zar, Josh and Deren and on the hour mark United went 2-0 up when Sam Bolton who a brilliant ninety minutes saw his half volley hit a defender before the ball flew past the keeper into the net. Beechy's leading marksman Callum Davies netted the third goal on seventy minutes then two minutes later the hosts won a penalty but Jason Rodgers denied Rangers a consolation goal with a great reaction following a spot-kick taken by their No7.
