In the top Under 8's Division in the Salford and Districts League Beechy Storm once again showed a vast improvement when they played Flixton Junior Reds. Defeat for Beechy was harsh because they had the better chances and a greater share of the ball. Harry Wallis scored Storm's only goal and the Man of the Match honour went to Nathan Kay for an excellent display in defence. A little more luck and Beechy would have been celebrating a winning result.
The Under 9's Lightning versus AFC Monton Cobras Blue Group game ended as a score draw. Throughout the contest Beechy were far the most impressive team and should have bagged a handful of goals after hitting the woodwork numerous times. Jeano Baker added to his tally of goals for the season and Karrel Thomas picked up the Star Player award for his brilliant work rate that caused Monton Cobras all sorts of problems.
Following an action packed Supplementary Competition tie with Winton Wanderers Spartans a relived Beechy Under 9's Tornadoes outfit came out winners of a match that produced twelve goals. Goal scorers for the Tornadoes were Stewart Kay who scored five with one apiece from George Wadeson and Eddie McDonough and after a fairly evenly contested opening quarter-hour when the teams shared four goals Beechy opened up a two goal lead. The turning point was a brilliant penalty save by Tornadoes stand-in keeper Logan McFeely just before half time. The Tornadoes increased their lead in the second half with the best goal coming from Eddie McDonough who was set-up by an excellent pass from Martin Cholakov. Josh Beddows who took over the goalkeeping duties in the second half making a brilliant save from a free kick when he superbly tipped the ball onto the crossbar at a crucial period in the game. Winton Wanderers scored three consolation goals in the last five minutes when the Beechy boys relaxed their grip on the contest. Tornadoes Man of the Match was Martin Cholakov for some great individual play and always looking to pick out a team mate.
Making a very good start in their Supplementary Competition home game with Winton Wanderers Devils the Under 9's Thunder dominated the first half that ended goalless. Jaylen Jones gave Beechy the lead early in the second half then he quickly added a second goal for Thunder. In reply Winton reduced the arrears via a well taken penalty then the visitors drew level through an own goal. Unfortunately Thunder lost the tie following a penalty-kick decider but the Beechy lads should be proud of themselves after they produced what could be their best all-round performance to date.
Beechy's mini-soccer team the Under 10's Lightning were handicapped when they lost key player Sean Cosgrove due to illness early in the Supplementary Competition away tie at De La Salle. Following the disruption Beechy found themselves two goals down but after a few adjustments at half time Lightning were unlucky not to at least force a draw. Several chances went close and one effort hit the post before Beechy were rewarded with a goal courtesy of Nicholas Ainscough that prompted an attacking surge but De La Salle held onto their lead during a tense last ten minutes.
Under 11's Hurricanes (9v9) Supplementary Competition tie against Moorside Rangers Greens was played as a 7-a-side fixture due to Rangers being short of players. Beechy were slow to adjust to the pace of the game and soon went a goal down but the Hurricanes sorted out their out their problems and drew level through Dylan Walker. Playing with more confidence since the equaliser Beechy moved the ball around with ease and Rian Haines got in on the act when he gave Hurricanes the lead. Dylan Walker scored his second and Beechy's third goal and the Hurricanes were in control as the whistle went for half time. Making a sloppy start to the second period Hurricanes allowed Rangers back into the match but once again Beechy responded in the best possible way when Dylan Walker completed his hat trick then William Schofield netted Hurricanes fifth goal. But that doesn't tell the full story as Alfie Gridlestone played the perfect sweeper-keeper role making three amazing saves. This was a very good all-round performance from the Hurricanes and it produced a difficult decision for Team Manager Kennedy Chirwa to choose a Man of the Match. In the end it was a three way split with Alfie Gridlestone, Dylan Walker and William Schofield sharing the award.
After suffering a four goal defeat in the Supplementary Competition the Under 11's Tornadoes (9v9) cup run looks to have come to and end for this season. Beechy suffered their heaviest defeat of the season although the final score line certainly did not reflect on a very even contest against an accomplished Parkwyddn Panthers team. A much improved hard working display compared with the previous match still went unrewarded although hitting the Parkwyddn crossbar instead of the back of the net prevented the Tornadoes going in level at half time instead of being the one goal down. Goal scoring chances at both ends were hard to come by but unlike the Tornadoes their opponents took their chances and eased their way to a comfortable victory. It can only be a matter of time before this kind of performance sees Beechy return to winning ways. All available ten players produced a disciplined performance but one particular player produced his best game of the season, with resolute tackling, neat distribution and total commitment for sixty minutes, Aiden Lawton fully deserved the Man of the Match award.
A tough game was expected when the Under 12's Typhoon (9v9) players travelled to play Wythenshawe Celtic for a Division 2 fixture. This proved to be the case as Celtic quickly put the pressure on Beechy and were soon rewarded with several goals. There was a glimmer of hope for the Typhoon boys when Cole Winstanley got a goal back before half time but Celtic came out in the second half and taking control again ran out easy winners. Man of the Match for Beechy was Harry Davis.
Goals from Jake Barrington, David Olidoy plus an own goal made up the Under 12's Lightning (9v9) tally in the Supplementary Cup home game with Winton Wanderers Gladiators. Unfortunately Beechy suffered a heavy defeat and there was no Man of the Match chosen after the game.
In action in the Bolton Bury and District League were Beechy Under 15's Tornadoes who were away to Section D leaders Adlington Lazers. Producing a poor performance the Tornadoes lost the match 8-0. The teams Star Player was Tom Anderton.
