- Junior Section Match Details 7th/8th April 2018
Beechfield United Under 16's Storm were gifted three points when Lymm Piranhas their opponents for Saturday's Division 1 home game failed to fulfil the fixture. But the Storm were in action in the Salford and District League two days earlier for an evening game against local rivals Moorside Rangers Blue and Beechy secured a 3-1 victory. The Storm who moved up to third place in the table scored goals via Fabian Yanney, Tom Gorton and Callum Lomax.
Following four successive defeats in the Bolton Bury and District League the Under 15's Tornadoes bounced back with a 3-2 home win over Moorside Rangers Yellows. In this Section B contest the Tornadoes were 1-0 up within the first twenty minutes until a defensive error gave Rangers an equaliser. United made a slow start to the second half and enjoying a greater share of the ball Moorside Rangers scored again to take the lead. Beechy appeared to lose their self-belief but after Rangers had a player sent off the Tornadoes suddenly regained control. Following a free kick taken by Dillon Barnes the ball was met by Jeanny Le Blanc who made it 2-2 courtesy of an outstanding overhead kick. Keeping the pressure on their opponents Beechy regained the lead through Leighton White then in the closing minutes Rangers were awarded a penalty but keeper and Man of the Match George Leigh produced a brilliant save to earn United the victory.
The Under 13's Thunder had home advantage for their Supplementary Cup D tie with Manchester Maccabi Broughton. On Sunday afternoon Beechy made a solid enough start to their cup run with a convincing 6-0 victory thanks to five goals from Prince Idusuyi and one by William Whipday. Man of the Match was Ishor Bajgai who produced an outstanding display in midfield.
Ronan Courtney scored a consolation goal for the Under 13's Tornadoes who's Saturday morning fixture was a Division 2 home game against Deans Tigers. Beechy lost the game and there was no Man of the Match award handed out.
Celebrating a fully deserved victory were the Under 12's Storm (9v9) who were rewarded for a superb all-round performance with a 3-2 home win over Barr Hill Aces. Goal scorers for the Storm in this Supplementary Cup B game were Tawonga Chirwa, Sam Walton and Man of the Match Elliott McClurg-Taylor.
There was a massively disappointing result for Beechy Under 11's Typhoon (9v9) who were beaten by De La Salle Reds in the Supplementary Tournament. Man of the Match Sam Henderson gave Typhoon the lead but United squandered a myriad of chances and guilty of some poor defending Beechy conceded three goals. Sam Henderson who added a second goal for United was denied a hat trick by an offside decision. Typhoon continued to create chances but ran out of time and suffered a narrow defeat.
Booking their place in the Supplementary Tournament C final were Beechy Under 10's Tornadoes. The home game with Swinton Junior Panthers produced a close fought first half during which the Tornadoes were well organised throughout the team. Goals from Oliver Percival, Owen Hogben plus an own goal in the second half made sure of Beechy's place in the final. Named Man of the Match was Edward Hughes.
Also playing in the Supplementary Tournament were the Under 10's Storm. Unfortunately Beechy were beaten by Winton Dragons but they managed a consolation goal scored by Michael Walsh. The Man of the Match award went to James Cadwaladr.
Beechy Under 10's Hurricanes who were away to Winton Raptors nearly got their first win of the season. In the Supplementary Tournament Lewis Royle netted both goals for the Hurricanes who lost by the odd goal in five.
Making it ten games unbeaten were Beechy's in-form team the Under 8's Lightning who's Development Group Green Division home game with Winton Spartans included a glut of goals. There were hat trick's for Oliver Eckersley and Brodie Mundy plus goals by Kaylon Salisbury, Charlie Swift and Oscar Mather as Beechy hit double figures. Caleb Horrocks was voted Man of the Match.
At Beech Farm the Under 8's Tornadoes played AFC Monton Cobras in the Development Group Blue Division and secured victory with a winning goal in the last two minutes. Man of the Match Stewart Kay created the headlines by scoring all five Beechy goals.
Enduring a rather frustrating Development Group Blue Division home game against a well organised Salford Wolves team were the Under 8's Storm. Thanks to a couple of brilliant counter-attacking goals by Franky Carter and Riley Haney Beechy held a two goal lead at half time. Two valid disallowed goals effected Storm's performance in the second half and they let Salford Wolves back into the game. The visitors reduced the arrears then equalised and with virtually the last kick of the game nicked a match winning goal. Oliver Markendale received the Storm's Star Player award.
A good first half display by the Under 7's Storm wasn't enough because it was a different story in the second period as opponents Ladybridge Tigers proved much stronger and eventually won the match. In the Development Group Blue Division Beechy's consolation goal came via Harry Wallis.
