- Junior Section Match Details 12th/13th April 2025
Beechy U/11's Storm extended their unbeaten run in the Salford and Districts Junior League to six games following their local derby with Swinton Wolves.
*The Under 11's STORM were looking to avenge an early defeat to opponents Swinton Wolves who have only lost one game this season. On a pitch which made Beech Farm look like Wembley Beechy kicked up the hill in the first half. The Beechy Boys knew they would have to be on it defensively and that proved to be the case as they limited their opponents to long range efforts. Storm's goalkeeper Jayden Royle confidently dealt with these efforts while Beechy looked really dangerous every time they attacked but missing two good chances. Storm found themselves a goal down when after a goalmouth scramble the ball hit a Swinton Wolves player ad rolled over the line. One thing that Storm have found in recent weeks amongst some great passing play is resiliance and Beechy hit back almost immediately. Heads don't go down if Storm conceded these days and the equaliser arrived after Harry Wharton played a great crossfield ball and Ismail Adetona beat the keeper via a wonderful finish. Into the second half and kicking down the hill Beechy had a good chance of keeping the Swinton defenders under constant pressure and this proved to be true. Storm dominated this Red Group game but despite creating a few half chances just couldn't find that winning goal. On one occasion Max Schofield won possession and after powering past two opponents saw his sweet strike hit the post. The Beechy Boys came off the pitch disappointed with a score draw but with a smile on their faces. Man of the Match was Max Schofield who was solid defensively and looked really dangerous when he stepped into midfield.
*In their 9v9 game against Manchester Devils Fierce Beechy U/11's LIGHTNING made another good start but surpisingly conceded the opening goal. But Beechy kept their heads up and were rewarded with the when Kayson Gregg fired the ball home via a free kick from distance. Lightning's back three of Charlie Drury, Eshan Shanahan and Crewe Reeves remained solid in front of confident Beechy goalkeeper James Hardman. Both Oliver Simpson and Junior Davies were pressing and hustling to win possession and Lightning made a positive finish to the first half. The second half brought some excellent chances for Beechy the best one arriving when an exquisite low cross from Henry Dunn was met perfectly by Matteo La Rana who slotted the ball into the top corner of the net at pace. Lightning worked hard to protect their lead but unfortunately Manchester Devils got back level with twelve minutes remaining. Beechy pushed hard trying to find a match winner and twice Kayson had chances then Henry volleyed the ball from long range and the Devils keeper pulled off a great save. Lightning's opponents were happy to accept the draw and once again both Beechy team coaches and parents were pround of the players all-round display.
*Earning themselves another thoroughly deserved victory were Beechy Under 8's TORNADOES who were in action against neighbours Moorside Rangers Blue. The Tornadoes found it very difficult to get some rhythm following illness and holidays and went three goals down. Beechy created very nice passing play and scored some great goals in this Yellow Group game. The Tornadoes produced an absolutely superb comeback to get back level then two rapid goals were enough to put them ahead and win the game. Man of the Match Brayden Gilligan and Billy Boyd (hat-trick) scored the goals.
*It was derby day at Beech Farm for the Under 9's THUNDER who played a friendly match against Moorside Rangers Yellows. With the emphasis very much on fun Antonio Embalo made his debut between the posts and looked very assured in his new role. The games opening goal was scored by Tiffany Kandemri who dribbled the ball past a couple of defenders and powered it into the net. Thunder kept up an impressive passing game moving their opponents around as they maintained possession. It was Tiffany who took the keepers gloves in the second half and made a couple of impressive saves but she couldn't stop Moorside from equalising shortly after half time. Beechys match winning goal came as Harrison Spencer supplied a great through and George Kelly rounded the keeper before adding an easy finish. In truth Thunder were rarely under pressure and only outstanding goalkeeping and missed opportunities prevented a much wider scoreline. Chase Sixsmith and Oscar Spencer shared Player of the Match for their continuous smart link-up play down the left hand side all morning.
