- Junior Section Match Details 9th/10th April 2022
Beechfield United Under 16's Storm Title Hopes receive massive boost following emphatic 8-1 away victory.
*Playing away against Wigan Junior Latics the Under 16's Storm secured three vital points as they chase Section C title honours in the Bolton Bury and District League. Taking advantage of the conditions as they played downhill in the first half Beechy took an early lead via Evan Hodson- Griffiths. Storm quickly went 2-0 up when Harry Patterson carved out the chance for Evan Hodson-Griffiths with a great through ball then Harry made it 3-0 following a corner. As they continued to dominate the match Beechy added goal number four through Evan Hodson-Griffiths who completed his hat-trick. Efforts by Alfie Jones and Oliver Lawton hit the post then just before half time Harry Patterson scrambled home the fifth goal.
In the second half the Latics with their only goal of the game reduced the arrears but Storm's Man of the Match Evan Hodson-Griffiths was on target again with goals six and seven before Ben Delaney wrapped up the scoring. This was a great performance from the Beechy Boys who are just one point behind league leaders De La Salle.
*The Under 13's Hurricanes were in Salford and District League action with a Division 1 away game against Kingsway Athletic. Luca Mobey was unavailable so it was Oliver Dalton-Bunker's turn to play a full game in the keepers role. On thirteen minutes the Hurricanes took the lead when for the third time in two games Joshua Whitehead delivered a brilliant corner and Oliver Nangle stooped to win a brave header at the near post. Excellent play from Henry Errington allowed Joshua Whitehead to send a superb through ball onto Alfie Rostron who fired a great effort beyond the hosts keeper for 2-0. The Hurricanes made four permitted substitutions when Jamie Maher, Daniel Robinson, Jonathan Lowery and Fabio Figueiredo were all introduced into the action. Beechy still held their 2-0 lead at the break and when the match resumed another terrific corner by Joshua Whitehead resulted in the Hurricanes going 3-0 up after defender Sophiyulah Bakare scored with his second header in consecutive games then Kingsway Athletic got a goal back in the 70th minute when the hosts won a corner and the ball was blown into the net.
*On Sunday morning at Beech Farm the Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) scheduled Division 2 home game was played as a Friendly due to Beechy's opponents Manchester Maccabi Tigers not having enough players. On target for the Tornadoes who won 4-3 were Josh Beddows, Reece Smith, Logan McFeely and Man of the Match Paulo Costa who scored his first goal for the club.
*Faced with an early kick-off were Beechy Under 10's Thunder who hit double figures in their Supplementary Tournament away game with Cadishead Town. Despite some early missed opportunities once Thunder's first goal went in the floodgates opened and leading the goalscorers was Jackson Humm with five. Also on target were Teddie Harding who scored four goals, while Martin Pankov netted twice and Ollie Sixsmith helped himself to a goal. Cadishead Town managed a consolation goal following a free kick but that's the only time Thunder's goalkeeper Leon Heathcote-Clare who had a superb game was beaten and following some great saves was named Man of the Match.
*Beechy Under 8's Storm were away to Longford Park Juniors and after a good first half produced a low-key display in the second period and lost the game. Storm's Man of the Match was Goalkeeper Joshua Lowery while on target with the goals for Beechy were Barkley Pope and Scott Ellis-Smith.
