- Junior Section Match Details 8/4/2023
During the Easter weekend only a few games went ahead in the Junior Section all of which were played at Beech Farm Playing Fields on Saturday Morning.
*Beechfield United U/11's THUNDER (9v9) were in action against Salford Storm Hailstorm and in a tight first half Beechy made a slow start. Hailstorm took the lead when following a shot on target the ball took a terrible bounce and caught out the Beechy keeper. But Thunder soon recovered from the mini-setback and equalised through Ajab Fakeeh who executed a superb finish from outside the area. The visitors regained the lead and Hailstorm were still 2-1 up when the referee ended the first half. Beechy began the second half firing on all cylinders and got back level again via their goalscoring centre back Samuel Sulmataj after a corner. Ajab Fakeeh was on target again edging Thunder 3-2 ahead when he netted a stunning free kick then after winning a penalty Ajab scored Thunder's fourth goal from the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick. Roman Williams wrapped up the scoring when he arrived at the far post and added the gloss to a good all-round Beechy performance.
*A closely fought game was expected when Beechy U/10's TORNADOES played Salford Storm Thunderbolts. Starting the game well the Tornadoes created a few chances before they broke the deadlock with a goal from Kai Barker. Following a couple of breakaway attacks the Thunderbolts with two chances netted two goals and the vistors held their narrow lead at the break. During a slow start in the second half Beechy were defensively unsettled and making mistakes allowed Salford Storm the chance to increase their lead. The visitors won a penalty and though the Tornadoes keeper Harvey Pugh saved the spot-kick a Storm player scored his team's fourth goal from the rebound. After a couple of changes the Tornadoes fought back and the remaining fifteen minutes of the game belonged to Beechy. Two goals from the excellent Luke Bennett set-up an exciting finish but the Tornadoes just couldn't find a deserved equalising goal.
*For their home game with Flixton Kestrels the U/8's THUNDER only had six players available though Beechy were quickly into their stride only to see efforts miss the target rather than test the visitors keeper. Eventually Thunder were rewarded with the lead after Man of the Match Harley Cosgrove-Newby fired home a low finish under the keeper. Following some great teamwork Beechy increased their lead when Lyle Glass was on target then Harley doubled his personal tally after some tenacious play which showed his growth and importance to the team in recent games. Thunder's victory was guaranteed early in the second half thanks to Sonny Phillips who produced the highlight of the game with a superb strike from the halfway line. Goalkeeper Hugo Balogum played outfield during the second half and looking composed with the ball easily went past two opponents and scored Beechy's fifth goal. Thunder's keeper in the second half Lyle Glass made one brilliant save but from the rebound Flixton Kestrels with their only real chance in the contest got a consolation goal. Harley and Sonny shared Thunder's Man of the Match award.
*The U/7's THUNDER who were away at Flixton Junior Athletic made a positive start and George Kelly gave Beechy the lead within the first few minutes. But after that early goal Flixton showed a bit more desire and netted three goals which gave the hosts a healthy half time lead. Straight from the restart a positive Beechy were on the attack and they were rewarded when Harry Wright reduced the arrears. Showing superb speed and determination was Harrison Spencer who scored Thunder's equalising goal shortly after but Flixton responded and adding two more goals without reply secured themselves the victory. Beechy's Man of the Match was Goalkeeper Oscar Spencer who made some fantastic saves to deny Flixton a greater winning margin.
