- Junior Section Match Details 13/4/2024
On Saturday 13th April 2024 three Beechfield United Junior Section Teams (U/12's Thunder, U/14's Tornadoes and U/15's Hurricanes) booked their place in the final of their relevant cup competitions in the Salford and District League.
*Beechy U/14's TORNADOES were involved in a penalty shoot-out before they were guaranteed their place in the Plate Cup final. In the semi-final tie the Tornadoes were at home to Sale United Sabres and following thirty five minutes each way the teams shared a 2-2 scoreline. Radwan Fakeeh and Josh Beddows were on target with Beechy's goals in normal time while it was Reece Smith who scored the decisive spot-kick that resulted in the Tornadoes winning the shoot-out 6-5.
*In their last Supplementary Cup group game against Salford Storm Thunderbolts the U/12's THUNDER (9v9) and though Beechy lost the match as per league rules they were eventually handed a place in the final. Playing some nice football Thunder made a bright start as they kept their opponents pinned in their own half. Salford Storm's option was to hit long balls to their main striker but Thunder's defenders Mohammed Abdul, Jermaine Rose and Ollie Sixsmith were superbly organised. Beechy had numerous chances but when the ball wouldn't go into the hosts net it appeared to be one of those days. Thunder's goalkeeper Freddie Jones didn't have to make one save in the first half and it was no surprise that it was still 0-0 at the break. In the second half Beechy continued to push forward in search of the opening goal but it was Salford Storm who took the lead via a spectacular finish from one of their forwards who from on the bye-line near the corner flag fired the ball into the net. Once again Thunder had chances but were unable to find the finish and from a long ball move the hosts went 2-0 up then during a tactic change Beechy pushed centre back Jermaine Rose as they adopted the long ball tactic themselves. Following a huge kick downfield by Freddie Jones the ball bounced high and Jermaine headed it over the keeper and Theo McNulty added the finish to reduce the arrears. Then Theo went on an incredible run and was the victim of an awful challenge in the area but the referee decided not to award Thunder a penalty and waved play on. With Theo lying injured the Thunderbolts keeper sent the ball down the pitch aimed at two hosts players who were both in a offside position and though Mohammed Abdul made a perfect tackle on one opponent the referee made another baffling decision when he awarded a penalty to Salford Storm but Freddie Jones produced a brilliant from the resulting spot-kick. At the end of a hosts counter-attack Freddie made a fine save and though a Salford Storm player was clearly offside he netted the rebound that gave the hosts a 3-1 winning scoreline. there were star performances from Kian Vaudrey, Freddie, Theo and Jermaine.
*In the Division 6 away game at Sale United Vulcans the U/12's TORNADOES (9v9) quickly found their rhythm as they easily matched their opponents. Beechy took the lead through Emmanuel Roland who carried on his good goal scoring form and the Tornadoes were still 1-0 up at half time. Both teams continued to create chances in the second half and Sale United equalised then the hosts added three more goals in a ten minute spell. Producing a great response Beechy reduced the arrears when using his pace Emmanuel Roland got to the ball before the Sale keeper and volleyed it into the net then Emmanuel completed his hat-trick and the scoring. This was the Tornadoes best performance of the season.
*Getting back to winning ways were Beechy U/11's TORNADOES (9v9) who's Blue Group fixture was a home game with Salford Storm. The teams produced an entertaining contest played in totally the right spirit and the Tornadoes were worthy winners. Goalscorers for Beechy were Luke Bennett, Lucio Riva, Zack MacKinnon, Max Blood, Ralph Phillips, Kian Murphy and Lynott Cassidy plus there assist's for the goals from Luke, Lynott, Ralph, Max, Kian and Zack.
*At Stott Lane the U/10's LIGHTNING were in action against Salford Storm who were one the most physical teams Beechy have faced to date. Straight from the kick-off both teams produced some strong tackling and the first half was a scrappy affair with Lightning slightly on top. There were no goals after twenty five minutes but in the second half the strength and size of the Salford Storm players started to have an impact. The hosts took the lead midway through the second period and though Beechy pressed for an equaliser the ball wouldn't go into their opponents net. With seconds remaining Lighting won a corner but the ball was cleared away and from a quick attack Salford Storm added their second goal with the last kick of the game. The Beechy Boys put a lot of effort into the game and though there were many great individual performances the Man of the Match award went to Kayson Gregg.
*Due to a waterlogged pitch the U/10's TORNADOES Green Group home game with Stretford Victoria Albion was switched to their opponents ground. After making a fine start the Tornadoes grabbed the lead when Freya Quinn played the ball through to Denholm Brookes who's low shot fond the bottom corner of the net. After the goal Stretford Victoria began to threaten more but Beechy's first half stand-in keeper Aiden Thompson and defenders Alex McGrory and Ralph Theaker held firm. The pressure for the hosts finally told when they scored two quick goals but the Tornadoes via the counter-attack were always in the game but just before half time Beechy suffered a killer blow when their opponents scored a fluke third goal. Despite the half time team talk the Tornadoes appeared to have lost their confidence and after the heavy rain arrived playing conditions became difficult during the second half. With more height advantage in their team Stretford Victoria forced another four goals without reply. Tornadoes Player of the Match was Alex McGrory who never gave up as he battled and fought hard despite the heavy defeat.
*AFC Monton Mad Dogs were the U/9's STORM opponents in their Red Group home game. This mini-soccer match was well contested on the artificial surface with both teams producing some top-class football and six goals between them. On target for Storm were Kade Doyle and Bobby Lowe who scored Beechy's 100th goal of the season. Storm's other players were Seth Barber, Alfie Heighway, Harry Heathcote-Clare, Jacob Foster, Oscar Pugh, Oscar-Bobby Berry, Harry Chambers and Isaac Hargreaves.
*In action in a rare home game at Beech Farm the U/8's THUNDER played their final Supplementary Tournament group game against Parkwyddn Hawks while neither team could progress to the knockout stages of the competition. Due to the long grass on the pitch Thunder opted to play some Sam Allardyce style of football both long ball and direct. It was one way traffic throughout the game due to the quality of the football played by the Beechy Boys. After numerous saves from the Parkwyddn keeper Thunder's captain Oscar Spencer broke the deadlock then goals two and three followed both scored by Chase Sixsmith who was denied his hat-trick when the ball stopped on the goal line due to the long grass. But Beechy soon added their fourth goal via Oscar Spencer who supplied the finish following another excellent move then thanks to a surging long run from his brother Harrison there was a deserved hat-trick for Oscar. The second half produced a similar pattern and Parkwyddn used the power play rule as Thunder continued to dominate the tie. Grayson Owen netted goal number six following his brilliant mazy solo run and coming off the bench George Kelly used his strength and powerful running to add goals seven and eight. After early missed chances and assists Harrison Spencer fired in the ninth goal and George Kelly completed his hat trick and the scoring when he executed a free kick past the Parkwyddn keeper.
*On a poor playing surface the U/8's STORM faced AFC Urmston Meadowside Sharks at Beech Farm and it was the visitors who's two goals were enough to win this Green Group game. The Beechy Boys Sonny Cox, Corey Davies, Alfie Garner, Lucas King, Rocky Linehan, Calvin Hunter, Jacob McLoughlin and Charlie Schofield didn't deserve to end up on the losing side.
