Henry x1

Alfie x1

Storm started with Reggie and George at the back, partnership of Imad and Henry with James in goal.

Beechy starting slow and being a bit static chances were mainly created by Imad early on taking a couple of pot shots on goal from some good footwork. Ultimately the lack of pass and move was letting the lads down.

Struggling to get Henry into the game he took matters into his own hands - chasing down from a kick in, dispossessing and finishing expertly to start off proceedings to the left of the goal.

Storm struggling to get into the flow Moorside made good progress on the right and it took stand in keeper James to make a big save at the feet of the attacker. Following some further pressure it was Henry who collected the ball in defence and saw the run of Imad who raced through sliding it past the goal keeper.

Moorside still pushing hard though caused an error in defence - first a cheap free kick not punished and then a penalty.

Alfie who had arrived late returned in goal to make a big penalty save tipping the ball onto the post which the resulting clearance set free George - who galloped through and laced it into the bottom corner causing huge celebrations from the Beechy lads!

Second half again Moorside pushing and now going long, ball finding its way through and again Alfie proving he is the 1 v 1 king made a huge save to stop a certain goal.

James who had moved forward into attack had won the ball up the field and smashed it past the goal keeper into the top of the net.

Again Moorside responded and again Alfie, 1v1 made himself big to make another cracking save to hold the clean sheet for the time being.

Reggie and George battling in the middle caused the ball to bobble out to the left, James collected, turned the defender to move onto his right and struck a sweet shot into the top right.

Henry now getting into the action had inverted to the right, raced through, cut in and shot on goal for it to be deflected past the goal keeper.

Power play now on Alfie was unfortunately beaten twice - big long balls from the Moorside goal keeper evading the defender and with players out of position - a thunderous shot to the left from Moorside and a close range finish bought them two goals.

George - who had a solid game picked the ball up and fed James who on the right was absolutely lethal taking his hat- trick!

Some good football shortly after as James played through George who took the ball turned and laid off for Henry who couldn’t get a clean strike

Finally a bit more magic; Henry picking up the ball in his own box skinned one and raced the length of the pitch, his shot unfortunately saved by the goalie.

Good performance from Storm showing their individual sharpness rather than their usual passing play - where again, all players contributed. Fantastic to see the high fives for tackles between George and Reggie, saves as James /Imad mobbed Alf and team mates congratulating each other for good football!

Parents Player:
*Alfie* - unanimously chosen as the first parents player; turned up just in time to make a mega penalty save and made a host of other big 1v1 saves.

MOTM:
*James* - captain for the day and produced a captains performance, played all 3 positions starting in goal, then defence and finished in attack where he scored a second half hat-trick. Ran his socks off considering he had just come from an hour and a half of swimming! Positive with his team mates on the field also.
