It took United just seven minutes to open the scoring when Issiaka Saba sent a brilliant long ball over the Eastlands last defender and the in-form Tom Helsby produced a composed strikers finish for 1-0. At times visitors were good at keeping the ball but Beechy's hard working philosophy all over the pitch was key to their success and after being denied what appeared to be a clear cut penalty United went 2-0 up. On the quarter-hour mark Scott Foulds went on another surging diagonal run and after ghosting past two opponents saw his long range effort saved by the keeper who could only push the ball across the area and getting to the ball first was Tom Helsby who side footed it into the empty net. Three minutes later Beechy cruised into a 3-0 lead when another attack developed down the right flank and Scott Foulds punished an error from Eastlands No6 and as the action moved to and fro United continued to dictate the game as they kept the pressure on their opponents. Wes Pierce displayed superb individual skill while midfield partner Bako Aziz became victim of several reckless tackles.
When Eastlands managed to put some pressure on Beechy's back four great defending by Kyle Walton and Dean Quinn denied the visitors the opportunity of reducing the arrears. More delightful soccer from United created more chances and a superb move between Kyle Walton, Tom Helsby and right back John Bolton almost put Beechy further ahead. But three minutes before half time Beechy were rewarded with their fourth goal via a great piece of play by Man of the Match Adrian Perez plus real determination to win the ball from Bako Aziz and United's No7 scored with a powerful right footed finish. Struggling to find their rhythm at the start of the second half United allowed Eastlands a greater share of the ball and Tim McQueeney was soon involved following a quiet first forty five minutes. Kyle Mears replaced Bako Aziz who was forced to limp off the pitch after another fairly strong tackle and showing a better overall work rate since the restart Eastlands played with more confidence. Kyle Walton sustained an injury after an aerial challenge and Matthew Swift immediately took his place in the back four unit.
A brilliant long ball from the Eastlands No3 picked out his teammate wearing the No7 shirt who forced a superb one-handed save from Tim McQueeney. Despite having to defend against a gusty wind Beechy continued to control the game and Issiaka Saba started a move also involving Tom Helsby that saw United's striker easily beat his marker before firing the ball just wide. There was a more competitive edge to the contest in the final twenty five minutes with both teams dishing out some meaty tackles. The visitors created a flow of lively attacks down the right wing forcing some solid defending especially from Dean Quinn and Ben Rothwell. Eastlands No17 won the visitors a rare corner but when the ball was curled into the area it was successfully cleared up field by John Bolton. The highlight of the match in the 82nd minute lit up the second half and resulted in United's fifth and last goal of the season. Receiving the ball on the right flank Kyle Wray sent a sublime crossfield pass to substitute Adam Boakes who after timing his run from deep in Beechy's half of the pitch added a brilliant finish to complete the scoring.
Tim McQueeney was forced to make another fine reaction save to deny Eastlands No8 as the plucky visitors continued to search for a consolation goal. Tom Helsby was just off target again with an audacious lob from inside the area and during the final piece of real action the visitors No11 worked his way into good shooting position but blasted the ball wide. United could possibly end the season in second place in the league table but with one more game to play AFC Middleton are favourites to be runners-up.
