Grand National day and all the Boys had a gallop on with some good warm up play getting used to the pitch, passing and movement.
The game started well for Beechfield with some excellent attacking play, passing and pressing the Dragons defence early on. Jose getting up field early and taking a shot but the Dragons keeper showing his worth and proving it was going to be difficult to get past him today.
Angelo covered the back line making important interventions and finding players to pass to as well as taking the ball forward as he does so well. Energizing attacks from Rio combining with Che quenched the thirst of the crowd but the defence and keeper again did well to keep the ball out of the net. Beechfield controlling the game on the attack and the ever present Elliot covering ground and feeding it to the forwards again was thwarted by good defending and some last ditch saves.
The Dragons counter attacked and the Osprey Bobby was required to keep them at bay and provide an excellent clearance so Beechfield could again attack as they love to do. Super Rio was on the attack and unlucky not to score. Che picking the ball up and attacking again but the area was too packed for a clean shot and the Dragons survived again. Rio not holding back made a great tackle and pass over to Rene for a sure goal but the ball bobbled on the usually good pitch and the Dragons survived another attack.
Bobby made a lovely pass straight down the field to Rio who was able to shimmy and swerve the defence and open up for a shot only for it to be saved well. Elliot and Rene combined to open up the defence like a barn door and rapid Reni pulled off a good shot but again the keeper saved. Louie collected the ball from defence, took a touch forwards and glided down the line, a defender attacked and Louie made the most skilful turn and push forward to carry on down the line with exquisite dribbling blinding the defence and manager on the side line but the last ditch defending again proving difficult to bypass.
Louie combining with Jose presented more problems for the dragons and Beechfield could have been four goals up if not for the excellent defending and goalkeeping from the Dragons. Urmston were starting to get chances and managed to get a goal with the defence caught out and Bobby having no chance giving them some confidence. The game got tougher in midfield and the maverick Bodie made his presence felt in midfield cutting off play, making the required challenges and broke ahead opening play to then place a sublime pass to Louie putting him clean through but the keeper again saved the day.
Bobbie was soon called in to action again and made a great save and the Dragons were testing more and more. Bodie again coming in to action made a good tackle and distribute successfully only for it to be closed down again. Elliot covered ground with ease and as well as thwarting attacks turned it in to an attack and Rio and Che were unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Che covering the defence and streaming down the line to find a pass was superb and Reni was keen to pick up the ball take on defenders and take a shot but the keeper again saving the day. A good attack from the Dragons and Beechfield were two goals down.
The charismatic Che was coming to the rescue following a free kick for Beechfield and there was no doubt Che was going to score and the crowd roared but it proved too late and the Beechy Boys were left ruing their chances but learning what even happens in the champions league what wins games. A really good performance by the Team, the passing and attacking was superb at times as well as tacking and distribution, on to next week.
