POSTED: April 23 2018 10:57:51 By Keith Long - Junior Teams Midweek Games 17th/19th April 2018

In the Junior Section six games were played in the Salford and District League between Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th April 2018.

A rock solid performance in another midweek match saw Beechfield United Under 13's Thunder stretch their unbeaten run to four games. In the Supplementary Cup Beechy were at home to De La Salle Reds and secured a 4-1 victory and apart from a ten minute spell just before half time Thunder controlled the whole game. On target were Prince Idusuyi (2) William Whipday and Harvey Walker who's goal produced the highlight of the contest. Dominic Lawton was named Man of the Match.

Playing two games in forty eight hours were the Under 13's Tornadoes. Leading goal scorer Alan Kay took his seasons tally to thirty via a hat trick as Beechy beat Manchester Maccabi Broughton 7-6 in the Supplementary Cup. Max Chidgey (2) and first goals of the season for Brandon Wabayi and Jamie Butterworth guaranteed United the victory. Then Beechy met AFC Salford Juniors for a Division 2 fixture and though United lost 4-1 the score line didn't do justice to the Tornadoes overall display. Alan Kay scored Beechy's consolation goal.

The Under 13's Storm were back in action on Wednesday evening with a Division 1 away game against Moston Tigers. Man of the Match Adam Rothwell was on target for the Storm as the teams shared a 1-1 draw.

On Wednesday evening at Beech Farm the Under 12's Tornadoes (9v9) played Salford United Reds in a Supplementary Cup C game but lost the tie 4-2. Beechy's performance was an improvement on the last time the teams met earlier in the season and in a great display the Tornadoes scored two good goals via Charlie Mulvenna and Man of the Match Lewis Wallis.

Following an outstanding all-round performance the Under 9's Tornadoes booked their place in the Supplementary Cup final. Against Barr Hill a goal apiece from Charlie Backhouse and Ebodele Oguname was just reward for the Tornadoes. Man of the Match went to goalkeeper George Rowbotham who made a brilliant save when Beechy held a one goal lead. Congratulations to all the Beechy players plus Team Manager Mark Rowbotham and Assistant Joanna Szafranska.
