- U/12's Thunder (9v9) April 2024
Beechfield United U/12's Thunder were involved in a couple of Evening Fixtures in the Salford and Districts Junior League on the 18th & 23rd April 2024.
*At Salford Sports Village THUNDER faced Division 4 leaders De La Salle and for much of the game Beechy outplayed their opponents but their reluctance to shoot on sight cost them dearly. The highlights of the game included a first ever Beechfield United goal for Jermaine Rose who scored with a coolly taken penalty while Theo McNulty was also on the scoresheet when he netted Thunder's other goal after producing a smart run and decisive finish past the advancing keeper. De La Salle ran out 5-2 winners but the performance and attitude displayed by the Beechy players was fantastic.
*The U/12's THUNDER were on the road again 23/4/2024) for their away game against Urmston Town Tigers a team Beechy will meet in the Supplementary Cup final. Determined to make sure their opponents wouldn't relish playing them in the final Thunder got a heads start when they won this league game 2-1. Quickly putting the pressure on their opponents Beechy were rewarded with the opening goal when keeper Freddie Jones launched the ball down the pitch towards a teammate and as it sailed through the air the Urmston keeper misjudged the flight of the ball and after it bounced over him he fumbled it into the net. Despite some unsavoury comments from the Urmston spectators which were ignored Thunder continued to dominate the match and held their 1-0 lead at half time. Urmston Tigers forced their way back into the game in the second half but showing great tenacity all over the pitch Beechy gave the hosts a really tough time. There were great individual performances from central defender Jermaine Rose, Roman Jackson in midfield plus wing backs Max Donovan and Ollie Sixsmith. Following a free kick Urmston equalised against the run of play but with just minutes left to play Thunder were rewarded with their match winning goal. Ajab Fakeeh went on a run down the left wing and into the area before sending the ball onto Kristian Georgiev who put it into the back of the net and trigger the celebrations amongst the Beechy players.
