- Junior Section Match Details 27/4/2024
Saturday's games in the Junior Section produced a mixed-bag of results that included a fifth successive League and Cup win for Beechfield United Under 14's Tornadoes.
*Beechy Under 14's TORNADOES were at home for their Salford and Districts League Division 2 game with Medlock Rangers and following a close fought seventy minutes secured a 2-1 victory. Both Beechy goals came courtesy of Josh Beddows who took his individual tally so far this season to twenty goals. Tornadoes goalkeeper Harley Finemore had a great game saving a penalty and his save from a point blank header guaranteed Beechy the win and the three points.
*Playing away at Salford Storm Hailstorm the Under 12's THUNDER (9v9) made a slow start in this Division 4 contest. Beechy missed a couple of decent chances and Storm who got the opening goal from a corner were still leading 1-0 at half time. Thunder made a tactical change in the second half that saw Goalkeeper Freddie Jones operating in the forward line and it was Freddie who got Beechy's equalising goal following a corner. Stepping up a gear Thunder put pressure on their opponents and were rewarded when they led led 2-1 after a stunning volley by Ajab Fakeeh rattled the crossbar but Freddie Jones was in the right place and netted the rebound. With about ten minutes left to play Freddie Jones completed his impressive hat-trick when the ball arrived at his feet on the edge of the area and he volleyed into the top corner of the net. Result Salford Storm 1 versus Beechy Thunder 3.
*Beechy Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) also had an away game when they met Winton Wanderers Hurricanes in Division 6. The Tornadoes male and female players started well as they produced some good all-round football. The final pass didn't hit the intended target for the Tornadoes while Winton were more clinical and Beechy found themselves 4-0 down at half time. In the second half the Tornadoes continued to play the better football but with about twelve minutes left on the referees watch Beechy conceded a fifth goal and looking at a heavy defeat. Eventually the Tornadoes good play was rewarded when the Winton keeper saved a shot on target but the ball rebounded to Emmanuel Roland who fired it into the net. Continuing to push forward Beechy's second goal arrived through Jace Richardson after he added a decisive finish from the edge of the area. A fierce strike by Martin Pankov took a slight deflection before the ball nestled in the net to complete the scoring with a third Tornadoes goal. All the Tornadoes players did themselves and the club proud as they showed that they are improving with evert game.
*The Under 10's LIGHTNING put on a great performance against local rivals Moorside Rangers Green and took the lead when Kayson Gregg chipped the ball over the keeper from a tight angle. Crewe Reeves took advantage of a poor clearance by the keeper and drilled the ball into the empty net from twenty yards for Beechy's second goal. With a two goal lead Lightning were in cruise control as they played some lovely football but Rangers reduced the arrears before half time. Starting the second half full of energy Lightning increased their lead after Austin Fillingham fired the ball low past the Rangers keeper. Beechy continued to play fast flowing football and great defending from Michael Schofield, Charlie Durrie and Joe Hession kept the Rangers attackers at bay. Five minutes before the end Austin Fillingham was on target again scoring Lightning's fourth goal when he completed the scoring.
*In a reversed fixture Beechy Under 10's STORM started this Red Group game on the back foot and struggling to get a foothold in the contest found themselves two goals down inside the opening ten minutes. Slowly getting their passing game together Storm put pressure on their opponents Moorside Rangers Red but due to some sloppy defending Storm conceded a third goal. Beechy pulled a goal back when a pass by Scott Ellis-Smith found Jack Sinclair in the box and he added a neat finish into the bottom corner of the net. After the goal Storm settled into the game but following another lapse at the back Beechy gifted Rangers their fourth goal. Following a positive half time team talk Storm looked a different team in the second half and for the whole twenty five minutes were camped in the Rangers half. Producing more great passing football Beechy were rewarded with a second goal scored by Jack Sinclair that echoed a possible comeback for Storm. More chances were on offer for Beechy but for some good goalkeeping and a bit better finishing Storm could have earned at least a draw.
*Due to a poor job cutting the grass on the pitches at Beech Farm by the council the Under 10's TORNADOES Green Group home game with Salford Storm was switched to their opponents ground. Similar to the previous Saturday the Tornadoes faced another team who have been playing in a higher division for most of the season. The first half was littered with chances and both teams could have scored on numerous occasions while Beechy had several corners taken by Harry Myddleton. In all fairness Salford Storm were slightly the better team in the opening twenty minutes during which Tornadoes stand-in first half keeper Reuben McCormick was in action and he was only beaten once when Storm got the opening goal in the final minute. In quick succession in the second half storm added three more goals but despite this happening Beechy didn't let their heads drop and playing more good football attempted to force their way back into the game. Both Denholm Brookes and Ryan Cordingley were just off target with fine efforts before the Tornadoes got a well deserved consolation goal via Jayden Lowe. Beechy continued to attack and deserved more goals but right near the end Salford Storm grabbed a fifth goal to dash any hopes of a late Tornadoes comeback. Despite the scoreline this was a much improved Beechy performance in which their attitude and work rate was highly impressive. Man of the Match was Harry Myddleton.
*Creating another star studded display in their Red Group away game were Beechy Under 9's STORM who came up against Moorside Rangers Blues. In this high scoring encounter Storm extended their unbeaten run in the Salford and Districts League to six matches. Bobby Lowe was on target with five goals, Alfie Heighway netted a hat-trick and Isaac Hargreaves helped himself to a goal plus Beechy's tally was made up by an own goal.
*On a sunny Saturday morning the Under 8's THUNDER were at home against Irlam Juniors in the Red Group. Beechy made a slow start and after chances at both ends of the pitch Thunder went into the half time break with a two goal deficit. Highlight of the first half came from Goalkeeper Oscar Spencer who produced one of his now signature 1 on 1 saves. After the euphoria of last weekends semi-final victory it gave Thunder the opportunity to rotate the players into unfamiliar positions but that didn't prevent Beechy from producing a familiar fightback. A close range finish by Chase Sixsmith reduced the arrears then Harrison Spencer equalised with a shot from the left hand side. Thunder's Man of the Match was Antonio Embalo who played on the right flank.
