- Beechy U/13's Hurricanes April 2022.
Beechfield United Under 13's Hurricanes Salford and Districts League Division 1 match details 19th/23rd/30th April 2022.
The Hurricanes had an evening home game on 19th April when they met Salford Storm Tornadoes and a full strength Beechy outfit dominated the early exchanges. The Hurricanes took the lead with a superb goal from Joshua Whitehead who curled the ball into the net directly from a corner. Totally against the run of play Salford Storm made it 1-1 when a swift counter-attack from the visitors ended with a good through ball and a clever finish. During a complete turnaround Salford Storm controlled the game for long periods and went ahead when a visitors midfield player scored a brilliant goal from thirty yards. The Hurricanes faced a tricky second half but worked hard in an uneventful final thirty five minutes though chances were few and far between and the match finished with Salford Storm collecting the three points via a 2-1 victory. Hurricanes Man of the Match was Jamie Maher.
In the away game against De La Salle Reds despite some resolute defending the Hurricanes conceded the opening goal after the big De La Salle striker made no mistake with a close range finish. Beechy equalised after turning defence into attack when Sophiyulah Bakare won possession and sent a great lomg pass onto Alfie Rostron who fired a rocket of a shot beyond the keeper. A generous decision by the referee handed De La Salle the lead when the match official awarded the hosts a penalty and from the resulting spot-kick Beechy found themselves trailing 2-1 at the break. After making a bright start in the second half the Hurricanes went 3-1 down following a corner though Beechy had a chance to reduce the arrears after winning a penalty but the De La Salle keeper saved the spot-kick. For their away game at Hough End Griffins the Hurricanes were without Owen Hogben and Henry Errington and that made a difference to the way the team played. Beechy enjoyed some good spells of possession in the match and Joshua Whitehead hit the crossbar with one great effort before being foced to retire due to an head injury. Trailing 3-0 at half time the Hurricanes who lost 5-0 named Alfie Rostron as the Man of the Match. (30/4/2022)
