- Friendly Match Details 30/7/2019 and 3/8/2019
Local rivals Moorside Rangers were United's opponents for the friendly game on Tuesday 30th July 2019 then four days later Beechy met Altrincham Hale a team from the Manchester Football League.
A few rain showers greeted the players and making a terrific start Beechy created a couple of clear shooting opportunities inside the opening three minutes when efforts by Gareth Mooney and Keenan Switzer flew just wide of the target. After six minutes United took the lead when a corner by Danny Royle was headed clear but Danny curled the ball back into the area and the unmarked Kurtis Lee planted a header past the keeper. A few counter-attacks from Rangers forced some resolute defending from Beechy and both Deren Saunders and Marcus Belcher had to time their ball winning tackles top perfection. Continuing to move the ball around with an air of confidence United dictated the pace of the game in the first half and led 2-0 in the 20th minute. After winning the ball in midfield Louis Duff then played it onto Keenan Switzer who casually lobbed it over a couple of Rangers defenders for Kurtis Lee to add an audacious finish.
United's stand-in keeper Luke Johnston was forced to make his first real save a couple of minutes later but overall he had a quiet first forty five minutes. Beechy continued to create chances and shots by Gareth Mooney and Kurtis Lee were blocked by some brave Moorside defending then Adam Vela and Mike Rogerson combined in a move that ended with Louis Duff firing the ball just wide. Rangers reduced the arrears in the 36th minute when their No10 got on the end of a cross from the left flank and produced an in-form strikers finish. Beechy were slow in finding their attacking rhythm in the second half and looking better organised Rangers were rewarded with an equalising goal after fifty two minutes. Mike Rogerson, Deren Saunders and Carl Ravenscroft defended superbly when Rangers put United under pressure but Beechy responded and there were chances for Louis Duff and Kurtis Lee before Keenan Switzer put United 3-2 up after receiving a great through ball from Danny Royle. Beechy were robbed of victory when Rangers equalised in the last minute.
United were guilty of a below-par performance against Altrincham Hale and could offer no excuses following a 5-1 defeat. Gareth Mooney scored Beechy's consolation goal and named Man of the Match was Ethan Birds.
