- 3-2 Defeat But Reserves Robbed Of Victory
At Howe Bridge Sports Centre Beechfield United Reserves were involved in a muddy encounter with Atherton Town A who ran out 3-2 winners of this Division 5 contest.
In a game of two halves Atherton Town raced into a 3-0 lead at the break but producing a sterling fightback Beechy dominated the second half and deserved to win the match. Goal scorers for United were Callum Davies and Ben Shiels and both players saw other efforts hit the woodwork while Macauley Knight and Byron Ward were victim of the poor pitch when due a muddy goalmouth they couldn't force the ball over the line. In midfield Keenan Switzer produced a star-studded performance and was an automatic choice for Man of the Match. United's Team Manager Mark McWilliams who lost four players on the morning of the game due to illness praised the lads for their ninety minute commitment in this latest Manchester Football League fixture.
