And so it was that we matched up against the unbeaten Unsworth in a cup game. Given that last week we had been so hapless I wondered how the boys would react and boy did they react. Probably our best 90 minute performance in a while. Boys hassled, kept their shape and competed admirably. We traded blows with the opposition matching them for intensity and fight. We created the 1st chance and Seth drew a save from their keeper. We conceded and I thought oh oh, but good pressing between the front 3, saw Kane recover, play it to Seth who then played in Karo who slotted calmly into the bottom corner. We continued to size each other up and through and individual error they scored. We maintained focus and Karo scored again. We created an opening and instead of awarding a penalty ref gave a free kick right on the line. Boys were disappointed and shook for a min resulting in us conceding again, by the time we regathered ourselves we had conceded another. But a cracking free kick from Nahome and a cool finish from Mason saw us go into half time honours even. The fear was we would let go of the rope in the 2nd half. They scored off another individual mistake but we stayed in the fight, continued to create opportunities and Glenn rattled the cross bar. Seth and Nahome fashioned chances but we were caught out again.
Regardless of the score the boys made us proud and should be proud of themselves. MOTM is difficult to single out but Nahome maybe edged it for a battling midfield performance
