POSTED: December 10 2023 12:55:24 By Keith Long - Junior Section Match Details 9/12/2023

More games were postponed in the Junior Section due to Waterlogged Pitches but thankfully six games did go ahead on 9/12/2023.

*Beechy Under 10's STORM were away to De La Salle and this Red Group game was moved to a 6-a-side pitch at Salford Sports Village. Storm found it difficult to play on the pitch and after the opening ten minutes found themselves two goals down. But Beechy quickly got their act together and the character from the whole team for the rest of the first half really shone through. Storm reduced the arrears when after some good passing play Jack Sinclair slotted the ball home via a neat finish and as Beechy continued to push hard they produced some great football and were rewarded with an equalising goal. A slick 1-2 in midfield between Jack and Max Schofield resulted in Max scoring the best goal of the game when he hammered the ball into the bottom corner of the net. As the first half drew to a close a calamity of errors within Storm's defence saw De La Salle regain the lead. The second half was evenly balanced with not many chances on offer until De La Salle pounced on a lapse in midfield and added their fourth goal. The Beechy Boys continued to work hard as they strived to get back level but they just couldn't find that vital goalscoring touch. After a handful of games in the top group Storm are starting to find their feet and despite the result this was a very close game. Man of the Match was goalkeeper Jayden Royale who pulled off a couple of great saves but overall commanded his area and got the team going forward at every opportunity.

*Continuing their good run of form were the Under 13's STORM who made it seven league and cup games unbeaten. In the Salford and Districts League Storm kept themselves top of the Division 1 table following a 9-3 home win over AFC Monton Reds. On the Astroturf Pitch at Co-op Academy School in Walkden an early goal from Ehiremen Ehijie got Beechy off and running then Ehiremen went on to complete his hat-trick. AFC Monton played well but Storm dominated the game and were worthy winners thanks to other goals by Roman Sandjai (2) Elijah Knott (2) Timothy Badewa and Etehadpoor Mohammadmatin. Named as Storm's Best Player was Noah O'Dea.

*Suffering a narrow defeat following their Salford and Districts League Division 2 away game with Parkwyddn Predators were Beechy Under 14's TORNADOES. In difficult conditions Beechy who were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline were rewarded with a late consolation goal scored by Oscar Mather. With only one game to play before the Christmas/New Year break the Tornadoes occupy third place in the league table.

*In the Bolton Bury and District League's Players Cup the Under 16's HURRICANES made a slow start in their 1st Round away game against FC Bridgewater and eventually lost the tie 4-1. On a heavy pitch the Hurricanes were unable to play their normal brand of football but the reality is the pitch conditions were the same for both teams so the ability to adjust to the conditions was needed. Beechy's mistakes were quickly punished by FC Bridgewater who went 2-0 up but the Hurricanes picked up the intensity and constant pressure won Beechy a penalty which unfortunately was missed. As they pressed on the Hurricanes created and wasted some gilt edged chances but more tellingly not hitting the target to test the FC Bridgewater keeper. Man of the Match Kane Wood did manage to reduce the arrears and Beechy went off the pitch for the half time break trailing just 2-1. The Hurricanes domination continued in the second half plus the pattern of not taking chances but Beechy did have a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside and were denied another penalty. FC Bridgewater used the long ball tactic and catching Hurricanes off guard the hosts netted another two goals and though Beechy fought to get back level they had to concede defeat at the final whistle.

*For their latest Salford and Districts League Green Group fixture Beechfield United Under 8's STORM travelled to play Winton Wanderers Blazers. The game was played on a 3G Astroturf Pitch at Eccles Rugby Club and Beechy's squad on the day was Rocky Linehan, Corey Davies, Jude Aimson, Sonny Cox, Calvin Hunter, Jacob McLoughlin and Charlie Schofield.
