POSTED: December 10 2024 15:14:19 By Keith Long - Junior Section Match Details 7th/8th Dec 2024

The Adverse weather played havoc with the Junior Section fixtures scheduled for 7th and 8th December 2024. Just a few games went ahead.

*In the East Manchester Junior League Beechy Under 16's THUNDER had a re-arranged Division 3 away game with Manchester Corinthians. Mihail, Jack and Devon were unavailable so both Owen and Josh were included in the starting line-up. The home team wore black armbands and there was a minutes silence in memory of the mother of one of the Corinthians players who sadly passed away recently. Thunder made a bright start on the hosts Astroturf Pitch and Beechy took the lead when the referee awarded Thunder a penalty for a foul on Sophiyulah Bakare. Taking responsibility with the spot-kick was Rafael Djacy who sent the keeper the wrong way when he hammered the ball home from twelve yards. Thunder went 2-0 up through Henry Errington who won possession in the opposition half and following a brilliant solo run added an excellent finish. Beechy increased their lead when more great football was rewarded after Zach Bingham sent a superb cross into the area and from close range Pedro Dos Santos netted goal number three. Despite the strong wind and freezing temperatures Thunder had totally dominated the first half but there was still work to do in the next forty minutes.

After a scrappy start in the second half due to the weather conditions Beechy extended the lead further as Pedro Dos Santos floated the ball across the area from a corner and though the Corinthians keeper saved a header by Rafael Alcron the ball fell perfectly for Zach Davies who made it 4-0. During a rare attack from Corinthians a long range effort looked to be heading into the net but Thunder's keeper Oliver Dalton-Bunker got his fingertips on the ball that rattled the crossbar and rebounded to safety. Play moved straight to the other end of the pitch and Beechy added their fifth goal thanks to Henry Errington who controlled a great pass before taking a touch and slotting the ball beyond the keeper to complete the scoring. Man of the Match was Joshua Whitehead. This was Thunder's third league win of the season and their first clean sheet. Result: Corinthians 0 v Beechy Thunder 5.

*Beechy Under 10's STORM came out on top following a nine goal thriller with Old Trafford Juniors. This Red Group game was switched to an Astroturf Pitch and the teams produced an entertaining fifty minutes. Storm's squad for the game was Seth Barber, Alfie Heighway, Bobby Lowe, Kade Doyle, Harry Heathcote-Clare, Jacob Foster, Oscar Pugh, Harry Chambers, Isaac Hargreaves and George Savage. Beechy won the game via five different goalscorers: Isaac Hargreaves, Oscar Pugh, Bobby Lowe, Alfie Heighway and Seth Barber.

*The Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) had no league fixture so a friendly match was arranged against Skills United. From a football perspective this was a nice game to watch and the Beechy Boys were praised for their good passing and movement which they had been continually working on in training. There were plenty of rotations among the players in the cold conditions and the Tornadoes were rewarded with a 7-0 victory. On target with the goals were Lucio Riva (2) Archie Charles, Luke Bennett, Harvey Pugh, Max Blood and Daniel Badewa. Sharing the Man of the Match award were Archie and Luke.
