- U/8's Storm Match Report 7/12/2024
*Beechfield United U8 Storm versus Deans Panthers*
In a developmental 7v7 Storm chose to set up with a 3-2-1 formation - Vincent started in goal, Alfie in the pivot with James and debutant Reggie as wing backs. Freddie started in midfield with Henry on the left of it - Imad taking the forward position.
In the first third Beechfield started very well - Reggie had created space and fed Henry a couple of times, squared a dangerous ball early doors which couldn’t be converted. Some great combination play also on the right with James & Freddie causing havoc with the switching of roles throughout.
Couple of corners won by the team with James firing it across the goal almost finding the net. Another corner came in with Henry going for an acrobatic finish and just missing.
Some consistent pressure told as Fred taking a kick in picked out Imad in a pin point cross who finished superbly. Shortly after it was Imad who worked the ball well to the right, slid the ball across the goal to James who from six yards out smashed the ball to the top of the net.
Beechy put on a solid showing with most attacks mopped up, Alfie conducting at the back who started the third goal, playing out to James with Imad on the right, cutting in and shuffling the ball to Henry who, had a couple of sighters previously, took it on from outside the box, wrong footing the keeper and into the back of the net. George swapped on for Alf to hold the score at half time
2nd half started with Caleb now in midfield almost had an immediate impact taking it past a player, getting to the bye line and squaring which unfortunately wasn’t converted.
Chances started to look few and far between - huge punts from Vincent into the fray causing problems with one resulting in Fred taking the ball and smacking it against the crossbar.
Other chances came Caleb, Imad and Fred all combined well in the centre, Imad drifting to the left of the box and striking cleanly though agonisingly going wide.
However, it was James who just came on to take a corner picking up Reggie who had stormed into the box striking a left footed volley into the back of the net to secure a debut goal! Beechy's defence looked solid with George, Reggie and Freddie holding the line this half.
Final third and some experimental changes with the weather worsening provided Deans with some opportunities - striking the crossbar from a free kick and Beechy did concede from a well worked corner & Beechfield all at sea.
Buoyed; Deans started to push though a great near post save from Alfie, now in goal, kept the Deans at bay!
Beechy did regain composure - it was Caleb’s turn to hit the crossbar with a looping shot & Imad striking agonisingly over though following a blocked shot the ball fell to James, almost in an identical position to his first, and added his brace.
Good performance from Storm who took to playing 7v7 like a duck in water (considering the conditions by the end probably a good analogy!)
MOTM:
Freddie had the coaches mentions for playing 3 positions throughout the game flawlessly; however the players overall vote went to *Reggie* who played his role excellently, bombed forward / robust tackles & solid at the back, combined well with the team and scored the goal of the game!
