- Junior Section Match Details 12/12/2020
Beechfield United Under 13's Storm are still looking for their first win of the season in the Salford and Districts League.
In Division 1 Storm were at home at Littleton Road against Hough End Griffins and suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat. Andrew Ackernley opened the scoring with a cool and accurate finish but Hough End hit back and equalised following a breakaway move then the visitors took the lead via a disputed penalty. Throughout the second half Beechy who's Man of the Match was James Cadwaladr put constant pressure on their opponents but just couldn't score a fully deserved equaliser.
In the Bolton Bury and District League the Under 13's Hurricanes quickly returned to winning ways following their away game with FC Bridgewater Jaguars. Thanks to goals from Man of the Match Juan Idicula (2) Kane Wood (2) Ethan Mangwiro and Nicolas Brito-Walmsley the Hurricanes collected the three points to stay top of the Section D table via a 6-4 victory. Regarding Beechy's performance what was most pleasing from the Hurricanes players was their approach and togetherness the team displayed. Even when mistakes were made there was no finger pointing and heads never dropped.
Returning to North Bury Junior League action after the lockdown the Under 16's Storm travelled to play Chadderton Park Griffins but unfortunately Beechy suffered a 2-1 defeat. In the Premiership Yellow Division Storm took the lead through Adam Rothwell and were good value for their one goal advantage at half time. Beechy continued to look worthy winners in the second half but Chadderton Park fought back and scored two goals inside the last twenty minutes to secure the win.
Playing only their second Division 1 game of the season in the NBJFL the Under 16's Thunder met Prestwich Marauders at Salford Sports Village. The match was a very evenly balanced affair and on the artificial surface the Marauders moved the ball around with an air of confidence, The visitors opened the scoring but Thunder equalised when Prince Idusuyi headed Beechy level from a good corner taken by Reiss Miller. But Thunder struggled for the majority of the first half and were vulnerable dealing with corners and Prestwich took advantage scoring twice from flag kicks. Prince Idusuyi was on target again for Thunder who trailed 4-2 at half time and when play resumed both teams seemed to cancel each other out though Thunder looked the more dangerous side.
Beechy reduced the arrears via the turning point of the game when a misplaced pass by a Chadderton player was intercepted by the alert Prince Idusuyi who completed his hat trick when he calmly slotted the ball home for 4-3. Max Chidgey fired in Thunders equalising goal and with about fifteen minutes to go Andrew Woodward broke through the Marauders rear guard and put Beechy in the lead for the first time in the game. Thunder produced some solid defending to stay ahead and the Prestwich keeper denied Beechy a sixth goal when he saved a penalty. This was a very good all-round performance from the Thunder boys who deserved their 5-4 victory and following an inspired display in midfield Dominic Lawton picked up the Man of the Match award.
There were goals galore in the Under 14's Lightning versus Cadishead Town Division 2 match at Brookhouse Playing Fields. This Salford and Districts League game produced an amazing score line that saw Lightning go goal crazy winning the match 15-6. Leading the Beechy goal scorers was Cody Brady who was on target eight times to take his personal tally so far this season to thirty five. Man of the Match David Olidoy fired in a hat-trick, Cherif Badjie scored twice and there was a goal apiece for both Charlie Harris and Josh Harris.
Surprisingly the Under 9's Storm's away fixture with AFC Urmston Meadowside went ahead despite the wet weather and a poor pitch. In the Red Group Beechy got off to a slow start after five weeks of inactivity that clearly showed against a top Urmston side. Storm found it difficult in the early stages due to some excellent wing play from the hosts who quickly scored a couple of goals. But slowly Beechy defended much better with Jacob Wood, Aiden Gradwell and Brody Burns backed up by the mud covered Sophie Price standing firm. The second half was much more open and play was end to end with Daniel Wharton and Harrison Church working tirelessly in midfield while Oliver Cooper and Robert Wagner provided the cutting edge up front. Urmston Meadowside continued to dominate the scoring throughout however two of the best goals on the day came from a Beechy player when following excellent teamwork and decisive passing Oliver Cooper scored emphatically on both occasions. It was difficult to selected a Man of the Match but the award eventually went to Aiden Gradwell.
