Once again the wet weather forced the postponement of all games scheduled for grass pitches involving Beechfield United’s Junior Section teams but six games did take place on both Saturday and Sunday and they were all played on Artificial pitches.
Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators found themselves holding a four point lead at the top of the JFC Sports Division following their 3-1 home win over Youth Kicks. To guarantee this Tameside Football League fixture went ahead Beechy switched the match to Stretford Sports Leisure Centre and the decision proved to be the right one. On a 3G Astro pitch the Predators were well on top in the first half and held a 3-0 lead at the break. Youth Kicks got their consolation goal midway in the second half but any hopes of a total comeback never materialised. Goalscorers for Beechy were Brandon Kent with a contender for goal of the season , Jamie Pollitt via a wonder strike and Joseph Lydiate who scored courtesy of an easy finish. Man of the Match was Denford Dzvene.
Playing a Moorside High School were the Under 9’s Hurricanes who’s latest Development Group Purple match was against neighbours Moorside Rangers Red. The Hurricanes first half performance was below-par but they improved in the second period and passing the ball with more accuracy were rewarded with three goals. Man of the Match Ben Morris scored two brilliant goals while Tom Worthington got the other goal.
Also in the Development Group Purple Division the Under 9’s Storm were involved in a twelve goal thriller with De La Salle Red. At Eccles College at one stage Beechy trailed by five goals but they produced an amazing second half fight back and earned a fully deserved draw. Caden Gibson, Josh McLoughlin, Alfie Gee and Man of the Match Freddie Jackson got the goals.
For the second time in seven days the Under 8’s Tornadoes took advantage of booking a pitch at the JJB Soccer Dome. Promoted to the Red Division the Tornadoes were at home to Flixton Junior Jets and Beechy took the lead with a well worked goal. Some great football was played by both teams and the match was highly entertaining from start to finish. Goals for the Tornadoes came via Joshua Taylor, Owen Hogben, Aiden Lawton and Jonathan Lowery who also collected the Man of the Match Award.
The in-form Under 8’s Hurricanes produced another dazzling high scoring display in their Development Group Yellow encounter with AFC Monton White. Brett McWilliams, Jayden Walker, Ashley Tonge, Owen Bolton and Alfie Gridlestone fired in the goals. The other Hurricanes players involved in the game were Edward Lucas and Nazim Mwali.
Following three blank Saturdays the Under 7’s Tornadoes were delighted to be back in action in the Salford and Districts League. Despite the atrocious weather conditions the Beechy lads played well against Moorside Rangers Blue. The Tornadoes squad on the day was George Rowbotham, Blake Kerrigan, Reece Cartwright, Harvey Riva, Harry Jones, Josh Jemmett and Player of the Match Fletcher Jackson.
