- Junior Section Match Details 14th/15th Dec 2024
An improvement in the Weather resulted in a busy weekend in the Junior Section as the final games of 2024 went ahead.
*At Beech Farm the Under 11's STORM (9v9) played out a dramatic 4-4 draw with Ordsall Park Dragons in their last game before the festive period. Storm made a confident start in this Red Group fixture and producing some good football took the lead after five minutes. Kobe Glass worked hard on the left wing to created the chance and his pass into the box caused havoc for the visitors and when the ball broke to Joel Momoh he slotted it into the net. Beechy continued to dominate the game and it wasn't long before they scored their second goal after Max Schofield supplied a great through ball and Austin Pierce added a decisive finish. It looked as if Storm were going to enjoy an easy victory when they were rewarded with goal number three. Barkley Pope started a move switching the play to Kobe Glass who delivered a great cross and Austin Pierce side footed the ball home. After that goal Beechy relaxed their grip on the contest allowing Ordsall Dragons back into the game and the visitors duly obliged when they reduced the arrears with two goals in quick succession. Responding in the best possible way Storm got a fourth goal when superb work in midfield from Joel Momoh set-up Man of the Match Austin Pierce who completed his hat trick. In the second half Beechy created endless chances but they just couldn't put the ball in the net leaving themselves to rue those missed opportunities. Ordsall Dragons got another goal back through a dubious penalty and with the last kick of the game the visitors netted an equaliser. This was a game Storm should have won comfortably but it was tough going throughout on a heavy pitch. Since moving into the top division Storm have played four games (1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat).
*Beechy Under 9s THUNDER rounded off the year with an away game against Red Star Lionesses U/10's team. Thunder had faced their opponents three times already this season and on each occasion lost the game. Red Star have some excellent players in their squad and during the first five minutes Beechy had to deal with some heavy pressure. Goalkeeper George Kelly and defender Harry Wright produced some excellent moments to keep Thunder on level terms. Operating with a new formation to try and suit all the players Beechy produced their best half hour of football so far this season. Chase Sixsmith added the finish to a Grayson Owen through ball then Chase was on target again to give give Thunder a comfortable two goal lead at half time. After the break Red Star reduced the arrears but anchored by Grayson Owen and Tiffany Kandemiri in midfield plus Beechy's flying wingbacks Oscar and Harrison Spencer Thunder raced into a four goal lead. Chase completed his hat trick, with both Grayson and Harrison on target via excellent strikes and Beechy could have added more goals but they were denied by the Red Star keeper who made some good saves. With about ten minutes to go Thunder relaxed their control on the game and the players started chasing the ball rather than being aware of the surroundings. Red Star took advantage scoring three goals and with seconds left on the clock the hosts equalised followed immediately by the final whistle. This was a tremendous game of mini-soccer with a lot of promise to come from the Beechy squad. Oscar Spencer was named Man of the Match following his captains performance.
For the last fixture of 2024 Beechy Under 10's STORM were away at AFC Monton Mad Dogs a team who always give Storm a tough game. Beechy who were without Isaac Hargreaves and Harry Chambers made a fairly slow start in this Red Group game but they did create some good chances. When Monton found their attaching rhythm the hosts went close to scoring but Storm's goalkeeper George Savage responded with a couple of good saves. Oscar Pugh had a great chance at the end of the first half in a 1v1 with the keeper who saved his effort and the first period ended goalless. The Beechy Boys were asked to up the tempo in the second half but they lacked the quality seen in other games this year. The pitch was boggy that slowed Storm's play down a level while at the same time suited Monton's style. Against the run of play following a corner Monton took the lead and five minutes later after a breakaway attack the hosts added a second goal. As they pushed forward in search of a goal Beechy left gaps in defence but that was the risk they had to take. Storm eventually reduced the arrears when Seth Barber was pushed from behind in the box winning Beechy a penalty and Bobby Lowe hammered home the spot-kick with five minutes to go. Storm pushed hard for an equaliser with all the players including their goalkeeper trying to score following a corner but it wasn't to be and Storm suffered a rare defeat in the Salford and Districts Junior League.
*Celebrating their first victory since September were the Under 11's TORNADOES (9v9) who earned a convincing win over Winton Wanderers Mavericks. On a boggy Beech Farm pitch the Tornadoes were on the front foot straight from the first whistle and Harry Myddleton gave Beechy the lead before further goals from Jayden Lowe and Dawood Fakeeh. Winton Wanderers improved after the break and the visitors pulled a goal back while some excellent goalkeeping from Ty Dobson prevented Winton from forcing a comeback. The Tornadoes always looked as if they had an extra gear and Player of the Match Jayden Lowe restored Beechy's three goal lead with a lofted effort from the edge of the box.
Beechy Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) were also without key players for their friendly match with Winton Lions. Luke Bennett, Ralph Phillips and Kian Murphy were unavailable but the Tornadoes were confident of victory because Beechy have twice enjoyed success in previous games between the teams this season. But in this home game the Tornadoes couldn't have got off to a worst possible start when they went 1-0 down after just thirty seconds then almost immediately following some slack defending Beechy conceded a second goal. Having to deal with the unwanted pressure the Tornadoes were somewhat disorganised and not playing their usual game. Winton took a 3-0 lead but towards the end of the first half Beechy reduced the arrears with a goal from Max Blood. The Tornadoes had the opportunity to step up a level in the second half and produce an improved display but the pattern of play remained much the same as Monton remained in control. The visitors added three more goals before with the last kick of the game Max Blood scored a second goal for the Tornadoes via a tremendous strike from the edge of the area. A positive end to a poor game from Beechy but these things happen and the Tornadoes will be looking to get back to winning ways in 2025.
*Completing their Salford and District Junior League 2024 fixtures were the Under 15's TORNADOES who met Kingsway Athletic in the Plate Cup. Beechy booked their place in the next round of the competition with a 3-0 home win. On target with the goals for the Tornadoes were Jayden Hoye and Finn Browne who netted a brace.
*The Under 16's HURRICANES played their final competitive match of 2024 when they met Longsight Eagles in the Quarter-Final of the Challenge Cup. The last meeting between the teams produced a 4-4 draw so another close game was expected with plenty of goals. Beechy made a great start in the tie when they took the lead through JJLowery who added confident finish following a free kick taken by keeper Max Gill-Williams. Shortly after Max was in action again when he produced a top-class save as the hosts strived to get back level. Longsight Eagles did eventually find an equaliser after the referee awarded them a dubious penalty then from a free kick the hots went 2-1 up. Another set-piece resulted in the Hurricanes getting back on level terms and this time it was a brilliant free kick taken by Joshua Whitehead that set-up Rafael Djacy who headed the ball home. Beechy's match winning goal arrived when Max Gill-Williams launched the ball forward and once again it was Rafael Djacy on target as he produced a powerful finish to win the tie. This was a hard fought 3-2 away victory for the Hurricanes following a topsy-turvy encounter. Man of the Match was Owen Hogben.
*On Sunday morning Beechy Under 16's THUNDER were in action with a Division 3 home game against top of the table Glossop North End. Beechy's starting line-up was Oliver, Richmond, Rafa, Mihail, Sol, Josh (C), Pedro, Owen, Zach B, Djacy, Zach D. Substitutes: Dan, Jack, Matty, Sultan. In the opening twenty minutes Thunder produced some great passing football but the went a goal down following a Glossop counter-attack. An important challenge by Matty Cox started the move that earned Beechy an equaliser when Owen and Sol combined and after great skill during a solo run Rafael Djacy hammered the ball into the roof of the net. A competitive first half ended 1-1 and when the game resumed after the break play continued to drift swiftly from end to end. An effort from Sol towards the bottom corner from inside the area was brilliantly saved by the visitors keeper. With tiredness showing in the Thunder ranks the visitors took advantage and went 3-1 up with two goals in as many minutes. Another powerful solo run by Man of the match Rafael Djacy took him into the box and though the Glossop keeper saved his first attempt Djacy reacted the quickest and fired the ball home from close range for 3-2. The visitors were guaranteed the win and the three points in the dying seconds with a fourth goal scored from the penalty spot.
