- Junior Section Match Details 18th/19th Dec 2021
Eight Junior Section teams played their final games of 2021 which produced some excellent winning results. Two teams had no fixture and once again waterlogged pitches forced four games to be postponed.
*In the Bolton Bury and District League Beechfield United Under 16's Storm go into the New Year with a four point lead at the top of the Section C table following a narrow 4-3 away win over North Walkden Falcons. After making a slow start Beechy went a goal down following a fine strike from outside the area but Storm produced an immediate response and were rewarded with an equaliser thanks to a great goal from Harry Patterson. Storm went 2-1 up after another good move on the right wing resulted in Evan Hodson-Griffiths crossing the ball for Jayden Okoli and he added the required finish. The second half began with Evan Hodson-Griffiths twice going close before North Walkden scored again to make it 2-2. Man of the Match Alfie Jones produced a great piece of skill when he jinked inside two defenders to give Storm the lead again with five minutes to go. Via an own goal North Walkden equalised and a draw looked a possible result before another chance was created and Evan Hodson-Griffiths turned smartly in the area to win it for Beechy.
*Also in the BBDJFL the Under 16's Tornadoes remained on top of the Section D table as they stretched their unbeaten run to seven games. At home to Culcheth Athletic Kestrels one of the best teams in the Division the Tornadoes found themselves 2-0 down at half time after conceding two soft goals. But displaying great character, stamina and skill Beechy forced a 2-2 draw with their equalising goal coming moments before the final whistle. Louie Khalil was on target with both goals for the Tornadoes who's Star Player award went to Harry Officer.
*Away to Astley Bridge Wanderers the Under 15's Typhoon boys were rather sluggish straight from the kick-off and on a small and heavy pitch it was no suprise when Beechy conceded the opening goal. Team Coach Pete Latham was always geeting on the players and gradually Typhoon started to find their form and Cole Winstanley equalised with a calm finish after a surging run down the right wing. Reece James was alert and managed to bundle the ball into the net with virtually the last action of the first half to give Beechy the lead at the break. Reece was on target again when he netted Typhoon's third goal and this allowed Beechy to comfortably take control of this BBDJFL Section D contest. Typhoon were able to add further goals via Ronan Mullen, Sonny O'Brien and Will Bentham and unltimately ran out 6-1 winners. It was great to have the energy of Joseph Bothamley back in midfield but Beechy's Man of the Match was Reece James for his hard work up front and two top-quality goals.
*Back in Section E action in the BBDJFL the Under 14's Storm had an away game at North Walkden Falcons but despite playing well on a heavy pitch Beechy lost the match 3-2. Goals for Storm came via an Oliver Cowley solo run and fine finish plus a North Walkden own goal after Andrew Ackernley, Joshua Rotherham and Joshua Kilfoyle unlocked the hosts defence with some great one touch football. Thomas Hawkins was voted Storm's Man of the Match.
*After their two previous games were postponed the Under 10's Storm's players were glad to be back in action again and they earned themselves a pre-christmas bonus with a 5-1 home win over Salford Storm. Goalkeeper Jacob Wood produced a superb display, both Brody Burns and Patrik Doherty were excellent in defence supported from midfield by the able Thomas Brady and Kristian Georgiev. The damage up-front was done by Oliver Cooper, Robert Wagner and Man of the Match Aiden Gradwell.
*Faced with a 9am kick-off were Beechy Under 10's Thunder who's Saturday morning fixture was an away game against Cadishead Town. In this thirteen goal thriller which ended with a win for Beechy both teams took a bit of time to find their rhythm. Jackson Humm gave Thunder the lead and was on target again soon after before Nataniel Wojciak netted a third goal for Beechy. Cadishead Town forced their way back into the game and quickly reduced the arrears then the hosts were rewarded with their second goal. Just before half time Jackson Humm completed his hat-trick then early in the second half Cadishead Town reduced the arrears again but as the goals continued to flow Thunder stretched their lead via Ollie Sixsmith and Jackson Humm. Cadished Town rallied and added their fourth and fifth goals but Beechy still had enough left in the tank and made sure of victory when Olllie and Jackson were on target again. Theo McNulty was named Man of the Match for an all action performance switching from defence to midfield.
*The Under 8's Storm who's last match was on 27/11/2021 ended 2021 with a victory following their home game with Winton Wanderers Silverbacks. At Beech Farm Playing Fields a solid team performance and goals from Jack Sinclair, Barkley Pope and Player of the Match Freya Quinn guaranteed Beechy the win.
*On Sunday Beechy Under 7's Storm played their final game of the year against Manchester Maccabi Rangers a team they had prevously met two weeks earlier. Storm lost the first match between the teams but following a very good performance on a cold and frosty morning they gained revenge. Beechy created numerous chances in the first half but the Macccabi goalkeeper made some great saves to keep the visitors in the game. Throughout the match Storm defended really well and played some great attacking football and voted Beechy's Star Player was Jacob Foster while two goals from Harry Heathcote-Ciare earned Storm a deserved victory.
