- Superb Display Earns U/17's Thunder 7-2 Win
*Earning themselves a Pre-Christmas bonus were Beechfield United U/17's Thunder who were rewarded for a superb all-round display with a 7-2 home win over Tintwistle Athletic.
*Conditions at Salford Sports were perfect for football as Beechy faced one of their closest rivals who are also chasing Section D honours in the Bolton Bury and District League. Both teams made a fast start on the Astroturf Pitch and there was an early touch of the ball for Thunder's goalkeeper Andrew Woodward. Good defending from Zion Agbiji and William Whipday halted the progress of a couple of swift counter-attacks by the visitors before Beechy created some good forward moves and Prince Idusuyi went close to opening the scoring. Jack Davies and Dominic Lawton worked hard in midfield as play switched rapidly from end to end and twice in quick succession Andrew Woodward dealt with shots on target from the Tintwistle No11.
*Thunder needed to put more pressure on the ball in all areas as the visitors continually threatened to score the first goal and following a corner the Tintwistle No20 volleyed the ball over the crossbar. An effort from Max Chidgey went just wide of the target prior to Beechy taking the lead on the quarter-hour mark thanks to a brilliant goal by Dominic Lawton. There was another piece of excellent defending by William Whipday after the visitors No10 had forced himself into a good shooting position on the edge of the area. Two minutes later Thunder went 2-0 up when Reiss Miller added the finish to a great move involving Ishor Bajgai and Prince Idusuyi.
*Stepping up a gear Beechy were rewarded with goal number three after Reiss Miller won the ball with a well timed tackle and neatly set-up Prince Idusuyi who easily beat the advancing keeper. Tintwistle who worked hard to get back into the contest forced a couple of corners but Beechy defended solidly and Andrew Woodward made two important saves. Using the roll-on-roll-off substitution rule Thunder made their first changes when Nathaniel Osinski and Tom Cox replaced Max Chidgey and Reiss Miller and soon after Jack Davies was replaced by Konstantin Hristova and Samuel Oludoyi took over from Dominic Lawton.
*The visitors keeper started a move through midfield that created a decent chance for the Tintwistle No7 who's sidefooted effort from close range drifted the wrong side of the post. Prince Idusuyi looked certain to score again only to be denied by a last-ditch tackle minutes before the visitors reduced the arrears in the 33rd minute after taking advantage of some slack Beechy defending. Thunder suddenly faced a spell of unwanted pressure and Tintwistle's No7 the visitors best player was guilty of wasting a couple of decent chances. Both Zion Agbiji and Lucas Madden produced some great defending during another period of pressure when Tintwistle enjoyed a fair share of the ball.
*A superb move between Ishor Bajgai, Harvey Walker and Samuel Oludoyi ended when an effort by Nathaniel Osinski from outside the area dipped just over the crossbar. (HT3-1) In the early minutes of the second half Dominic Lawton who was back on the pitch saw his fierce drive blocked after a surging run down the left wing by Prince Idusuyi. More neat passing moves from Tintwistle kept Beechy in a defensive mode and some top-class defending by Ishor Bajgai, Lucas Madden and William Whipday frustrated the visitors until Thunder failed to deal with an inswinging corner and the Tintwistle No2 hammered the ball home for 3-2 after fifty five minutes.
*As Beechy looked to get a tighter grip on the match both Tom Cox and Reiss Miller returned to the action and following a reckless challenge on Prince Idusuyi by the visitorskeeper Thunder were denied a clear cut penalty. Prince Idusuyi was involved again when his header was just off target after a very good move between Tom Cox and Jack Davies. Three times in succession Thunder's Man of the Match Ishor Bajgai showed his class with some brilliant defending and Beechy needed another goal to give them a bit more breathing space. The vital breakthrough came via the highlight of the game when Konstantin Hristova scored direct from a corner to give Thunder a 4-2 lead on sixty five minutes.
*Beechy were refused another penalty after a deliberate handball by a Tintwistle defender but Thunder quickly forgot the incident when Dominic Lawton netted Beechy's fifth goal. Andrew Woodward made a couple of comfortable saves following two free kicks then after the third time of asking Beechy were awarded a penalty for a blatant foul on Reiss Miller and Max Chidgey confidently scored from the resulting spot kick after eighty four minutes. Nathaniel Osinski completed the scoring after racing onto a superb defence splitting pass from Dominic Lawton.
