- Junior Section Match Details 3rd/4th February 2024
Producing a great all-round performance Beechfield United Under 10's Lightning earned themselves a confidence boosting win in the Salford and Districts League.
*In the Green Group LIGHTNING were at home to Winton Wanderers and dominating the ball from the first whistle Beechy soon created chances and after five minutes George Richardson opened the scoring with a fine finish from inside the box. Then two fantastic goals by Eshan Shanahan both via shots from ouside the box gave Lightning a healthy lead. A similar pattern developed in the second half as Beechy continued to dominate the game and Austin Fillingham was on target when he netted Lightning's fourth goal after a low and accurate finish. In the last ten minutes Beechy's final goal arrived when Junior Davies scored with a world class strike before Winton Wanderers got their consolation goal after they were awarded a penalty. This was a great display from Lightning and special mentions go to Crewe Reeves, Eshan Shanahan and Charlie Drury who all excelled in their team positions.
*Fresh from last weeks victory the Under 10's TORNADOES met a Stretford Victoria side they had not faced before so they really didn't know what to expect from the game. On a boggy home pitch Beechy started on the front foot and dominated the opening five minutes during which Anika Wojciak went close to giving the Tornadoes the lead. Against the run of play Stretford Victoria scored two quick goals and this saw Beechy heads drop slightly but the Tornadoes replied and created more chances in the first half and a thunderous effort from Anika Wojciak almost broke the crossbar. Stretford Victoria were always a threat especially on the counter-attack and the visitors added two more goals before half time. The second half continued in the same manner and the Tornadoes could easily have scored three or four goals but were denied by the Stretford keeper who made a couple of outstanding saves. Once again Stretford's use of the counter-attack produced rewards for the visitors when they added another three goals. The result was tough on the Tornadoes and whilst Stretford Victoria were the better team the game was much closer than the scoreline suggests. Beechy need to focus on better finishing and preventing the conuter-attack ahead of their next game in the Green Group. Returning to the team was Player of the Match Freya Quinn who was composed on the ball and strong in the tackle.
*Thanks to another top-quality all-round display the Under 9's STORM were rewarded with a deserved victory over AFC Monton. In this Salford and Districts League Red Group game on target for Beechy were Seth Barber, Bobby Lowe, Kade Doyle plus an own goal. Harry Heathcote was named Storm's Man of the Match.
*At the Albion Academy Beechy Under 9's THUNDER met Salford United and thanks to a really good team performance one of the boys strongest this season Thunder dominated the first half. In the Blue Group Beechy scored four well deserved goals the first one from Harley Cosgrove-Newby then Issac Fleet-Alden added number two before Hugo Balogun and Sonny Phillips got themeselves on the scoresheet before Salford United managed to reduce the arrears. Thunder should have finished the game off in the second half but they relaxed their grip and allowed Salford United to score two more goals. This was a great team effort by the Beechy Boys who all played extremely well and voted Man of the Match was goalkeeper Michael Omeregie who made four top-class saves.
*Putting on a good show at Beechy Farm were the Under 8's THUNDER who were at home to AFC Urmston Meadowside Tigers. In this Blue Group encounter Chase Sixsmith netted two first half goals in reply to one from the opposition before half time. The margin could have been wider due to missed chances with one effort hitting the goal frame, some great goalkeeping and a missed penalty all kept the score down. Shortly after half time Man of the Match Chase Sixsmith completed his hat-trick with his best goal of the game via a long range strike into the top corner of the net. Urmston Tigers scored again but Thunder stepped up a gear and were rewarded with a flurry of goals. George Kelly volleyed the ball home from a corner before the best move of the game set-up Jude Bond who netted goal number five. For his star performance Harrison Spencer scored a well deserved goal then Jude Bond fired home Beechy's last two goals to complete his hat-trick before Urmston Tigers grabbed their third goal near the end.
*Also playing an Urmston Meadowside side were Beechy Under 8's STORM. In the Salford and Districts Junior Football League Green Group Storm had home advantage for this game against the visitors Vikings team. Beechy's squad for the game was Rocky Linehan, Corey Davies, Jacob McLoughlin, Charlie Schofield, Alfie Garner, Sonny Cox, Jude Aimson and Calvin Hunter.
*The SDJFL Under 11's Blue Group (9v9) fixture between Beechy Tornadoes and Prestwich Eagles ended with a win for the Tornadoes. Lucio Ria (hat-trick) Lynott Cassidy, Zachary MacKinnon and Max Blood were the goalscorers for the Tornadoes who won an entertaining game that included eight goals.
*Away to Prestwich All Stars at Salford Sports Village the Under 12's TORNADOES (9v9) faced a tough test against their unbeaten top of Division 6 opponents. Beechy's boys and girl competed brilliantly and in the first fifteen minutes both teams tried to establish a foothold in the game. Prestwich took the lead when the Tornadoes keeper made a fine save but the ball rebounded to a hosts attacker who netted from the rebound. Then a couple of similar goals plus two decent finishes gave Prestwich a comfortable 5-0 lead at half time. Beechy continued to compete really well in the second half but they just couldn't find a goal while Prestwich added another. Abdelmalik Zuway played superbly out of position at the back, Jace Richardson covered the defence well from his holding midfield position. There were promising signs upfront from Bryan Enetomhe, Emmanuel Roland who was making his debut and Thomas Hunter. Every week there have been signs of improvement regardless of the scoreline and every Tornadoes player deserves added credit for turning up in their numbers to play grassroots football.
*Following a run of eight successive defeats in the Bolton Bury and District League Beechfield United Under 16's HURRICANES rediscovered the winning formula. Glenn Tepa scored both goals in Beechy's 2-1 away win over Monton Sports. Danny Gregory was voted Play of the Match.
