- Joe Crossley - Former Beechy Player
Pictured fourth from the right on the front row of the displayed team photo is Joe Crossley a former Beechfield United player who spent five successive seasons with the club. Joe developed his skills through the clubs holding group in 2002/2003 and Mini-Soccer was already a major part of the Football Associations set-up when Joe became a squad member of the Under 7's in season 2003/2004. The team were registered with the City of Salford Soccer League and Joe scored several important goals during the season that ended on a high note when the Under 7's won the Supplementary Cup.
Other players on the photo are Jessica Lockett, Jack Ryan, Dean Davis, Adam Corker, Sam Berry, Jack Berry, Daniel Yearsley, Chloe Dickenson, Zachery Rowbotham, George Sunter, Callum Ring, Kane Rowley.
Season 2004/2005 was quite an eventful one for Joe who was the Under 8's joint leading goal scorer with Kane Rowley (both players ended the season with 28 goals each) On Saturday 13th November 2004 Joe scored one of the quickest goals in the history of the club (time recorded as 25 seconds) At the annual Presentation Event held at the Reebok Stadium on Friday 17th June 2005 Joe and his family were celebrating after he received the Managers Merit-Award.
Moving up to the Under 10's Storm in 2005/2006 Joe quickly became a prolific goal scorer for the team and ended the season with an impressive total of 32. Some eye-catching performances earned Joe his share of the teams Man of the Match awards plus a runners-up and winners league trophy. The Under 10's lost to Parkwyddn in the final of the Supplementary Cup but Beechy ended the season as Division 2 champions remaining unbeaten following all their league fixtures. Beechy squad was Declan Tasker, Alex Walker, Jack Sands-Filer, Lee Dalby, Nathan Hamer, Christian Hancock, Daniel Melody, Liam Waite, Jack Chester, Joe Crossley, Sam Newton.
Continuing as an Under 10's player for Beechy Storm Joe started the 2006/2007 season with a hat-trick in the first official game played on 16/9/2006 following that with a five goal haul seven days later and 30 goals that season saw Joe finish as leading marksman in the mini-soccer section. Also part of the Under 11's squad who played 9v9 Sunday football in the Timperley and District Junior League Joe contributed several goals during the campaign. On 3rd June 2007 at the end of season Presentation event held at the Willows Variety Centre Joe was presented with his 5 year loyalty award.
Since leaving Beechfield United Joe has played for several local other club's during his career and currently he is heavily involved in ExtraTime 1to1 Training a service for players of all ages who are looking to work on the technical side of their game.
