Despite a conundrum for most as to where to park for this away fixture the squad was ready and warmed up with time to spare.
A good day for football with the pitch in very good shape resembling an African plain compared to recent fixtures.
A fierce start from Beechfield playing slightly uphill welcomed with the return of Che and he was quickly involved in the action. Taking possession deep in midfield bringing it through and with a nice pass wide out to Louis on the wing. Louis was able to attack as we know he can and get off an early shot at goal.
The Boys were quick to attack the Dragons and didn’t give them time on the ball. The Dragons had some good play and tried to get their passing going to no avail, Rio showing his tenacity with a tackle and gaining possession to pass to the ever ready Louis in space who attacked again with a calmness only Louis can and was unlucky on the strike.
Che collected the ball deep not giving the Dragons a chance and started to warm the crowd up with some good attacking moves and Beechfield started to show off some really enjoyable football.
Angelo even though not very well was covering the back line as usual and showed again and again his ability to collect the ball deep, move in to space and find a player. The Osprey (Bobby) was going to be more involved this week and played it cool in the goal, owning his space and pulling off important saves and distributing well. The soon to be Birthday Boy Elliot was by this time covering ground on this pitch like a Gazelle but one with sharp teeth, getting important challenges in and waking the crowd up. Beechfield had a flurry of corners where the Dragons knew it was best to get the ball out and some nice interaction and clever play were unlucky to get more from them but the Dragons were putting up a good defence.
Rio continued his attacks linking up well and a good cross from the wing. Bodie another Birthday Boy (13th) managed to get involved and really wanted a goal for his Birthday and managed a shot but the Urmston keeper was proving very good and the Boys needed to keep working. Bobbie came to the rescue on a counter attack and it was quickly turned in to a Beechfield counter-attack! Some real football ensued with nice passing throughout the team and Rio being brought down in the penalty box. Rio stepped up and scored a fantastic penalty past this very good keeper with a fancy celebration to follow. The crowd roared and smiles lit the faces of the Beechfield squad! More attacks ensued and Rio hit the post following a great free kick from Louie.
The fitness and hunger from Beechfield was starting to show and with heavy pressing from the whole team the ball fell to Louie with what would be a really difficult strike but he set himself up and connected with the ball perfectly to slot it in the back of the net an adult wouldn’t have been able to save. 2-0. Rio had a full pitch track back to make a challenge and win the ball with superb athleticism with what could have been dangerous for Thunder and Bobby was also there ready and available. The Dragons were breathing fire now and had a great chance to pull one back but with the defence aware and Bobbie on his toes the ball bizarrely seemed to bounce off a couple of players, hit the cross bar, squash a worm on the grass bounce back up and just before they could score Bobbie pulled off the save as cool as the Okavango in flood and hold it safe.
Beechfield stepped it up again with countless attacks and passing play they really wanted more goals but it was no easy task against this Team. Che ran the full length of the pitch after a pass from Bodie and skipped past players taking a hit on the way and with Elliot waiting on the wing both of them was unlucky not to get a shot at goal. Che did great to carry on after that one. The Dragons defence was getting dizzy by this point from Louie’s dribbling attacks and he was so unlucky not to get another, the keeper and last minute defending doing really well to hold him off but when they tried to get it out they had the likes of Che to contend with who covered the pitch and was ready to make a tackle like a young Lion ready to pounce on his evening meal.
More Louie and Rio attacks and a good shot from Rio which just went wide. Beechfield dominating now with some really good football and effort. Bodie made an excellent throw-in to put Rio through and Rio put in another great shot which required a great save by the Dragons keeper.
Bodie was involved in heavy action and managed to win the ball from and through two players and taking it forward, getting a shot off but it just went wide. Bodie took a heavy hit in the belly but managed to play on and get another shot off but again unlucky not to score. Attacks from Elliot and Che continued with Rio mopping up loose balls all over the pitch and creating space for the Team. Elliot was awarded a freekick from a heavy challenge and he did well to play on and was unlucky with the outcome with good defending again from the Dragons.
The crowd were treated to some really good action all over the pitch and then the Man of the Match managed to break through and the Clan (pack of hyenas 😊) could not catch Elliot with his Gazelle pace and he managed to get a shot off on a one on one but the keeper managed to save it. Bobby kept the peace at the back and the Beechfield Boys were victorious with a great win against a really good side. Again a great Team effort, really great to see them work so hard for each other and learning and improving all the time, it is easy to forget their ages sometimes! All Parents should be proud of that one! 👏
