Storm u8s kicked off their Supplementary Cup competition in a highly competitive game against OT.

Alfie took the captaincy in net, Fred and George combining in defence with Henry and Imad manning the wings.

Game started competitively with Imad taking a loose ball, running down the wing and resulting in a good save by their goal keeper. Beechy continued to push and competing well though it was OT who made a first break, striker being played through resulting in a brilliant 1v1 save by Alfie in net.

Sparking Beechy into life - a back pass gone wrong was collected by Imad, unmarked and finished well to the bottom right.

OT immediately applied pressure though Fred, George in defence were solid. It took OT a long shot that looked destined for the back of the net and a brilliant acrobatic save (for the onlooking cameras) by Alfie kept Beechy in the lead. Shortly after Beechy were breached; losing the ball in midfield gave OT a free run at goal putting it into the back of the net.

Reggie & Vincent entered the field - back on the front foot Beechy responded Fred running down the left causing a mistake by their goalie handling outside the box - the resulting free kick acrobatically saved. Henry was next who took it down the left, being man handled off the ball with no free kick given - he responded in the best possible way. Henry picking the ball from Fred, running down the left, his strike blocked but falling on his right curved the ball into the bottom corner with his weaker foot.

Other chances followed - number of blocked shots, Fred striking the post and a ghost goal not picked up by the ref 👻.

Agonisingly it was Beechy who again shot themselves in the foot - a back pass picked by Vince & the defence too slow to pick up their attackers and finished to the right of the goal with a brilliant finish.

Disappointed at half time but galvanised by the end of it - Beechy started the strongest. Imad and Henry had started to really gel in attack - Henry doubling up on the left and shifted the ball through to Imad who took the ball wide on his left for his trademark finish to the bottom corner across the goal keeper.

The Storm defence really came out with a point to prove - George stopping multiple attacks with 3 breaks scooped up and cleared - from a mis pass Henry collected and fed Imad who’s first shot was well saved & second blazed over.

Reggie entering the fray followed suit with some strong tackling - it was his pass on the left squeezing through to Henry who again looked up, put a through ball to Imad, shimmied round a defender and placed it into the net.

OT breached the solid defence and it was Alfie who made a spectacular double save with the first shot well saved, recovered and stopping the 1v1. Beechy's defence in panic mode as the ball found its way to the left - the resulting shot squirming under Alfie who was unlucky not to stop it.

Vincent jumping in net - who had made a couple of solid saves in his stint also had a go from his own goal with his looping shot being saved.

As OT continued to push a mistake on the left allowed Imad win the ball, confidently move it forward and finish to the bottom right in an identical finish to his 3rd rounding off a well earned victory for Storm.

*MOTM:*
Following the recent Antonio Conte quote in the news (you’ll have to look this one up!) Man of the Match was split between goal keeper & striker - *Alfie* unanimously voted by all the players for his stand out saves as well as *Imad* who continues to show why every club in the North of England is after him! Brilliant four goals and built an excellent relationship on the pitch with the magician Henry today.

However - this doesn’t take away from a brilliant 2nd half performance where every player stepped up & played their role in a fantastic win!!!
