A dominant display plus ten goals was more than enough for BEECHFIELD UNITED LADIES to secure their sixth successive victory in the Greater Manchester Womens League. (12/2/2023)

*In Division One Beechy who were at home to AFC Stockport Lionesses made a great start to the game when they went 2-0 up after only six minutes. After kicking off the game Beechy dealt with the visitors early attacking threat before taking the lead in the third minute. A move developed down the right wing and Monique Pollard latched onto a header by Aimee Armsden and fired the ball off a Stockport defender into the net. Keeping the pressure on their opponents back four Beechy added their second goal when a corner taken by Jess Lawson was met by Stacy Partridge who fired the ball home from close range. A great move between Becky Gregory and Monique Pollard opened the Stockport defence but Jess Lawson had strayed into an offside position.

The visitors created a few positive attacks down both flanks which were confidently dealt with by Beechy's defence Joanna Szafranska, Megan Mirfield, Shauna Smith and Julie Ward. The Stockport keeper made an acrobatic save following a shot on target by Natasha Herity then under pressure the visitors No1 fisted the ball away after a corner. Julie Ward's headed clearance sent Monique Pollard on another surging run down the left wing and Beechy's No15 won her team another corner. Natasha Herity sent a half volley just off target then at the end of Beechy's next move involving Aimee Armsden, Jess Lawson and Monique Pollard the latter almost beat the keeper at the near post. The overworked Stockport keeper made a diving save to deny Shauna Smith a goal following another corner taken by Stacy Partridge.

Alice Mosley made a couple of rare saves but overall the Beechy keeper was rarely in action during the first half. After twenty two minutes Natasha Herity via a thunderous drive made it 3-0 then Monique Pollard blasted the ball beyond the keeper for the fourth goal following an excellent move between Julie Ward and Aimee Armsden. Just after the half hour mark Stacy Partridge was replaced by Amie Barrett who quickly linked-up with Monique and Natasha in a slick quick passing move. Both Player of the Match Joanna Szafranska and Megan Mirfield denied the visitors the chance of reducing the arrears with some last ditch defending. A brilliant between two defenders by Becky Gregory set-up Jess Lawson who after beating the offside trap fired the ball at the keeper.

At the start of the second half Beechy changed their goalkeeper when Shauna Smith took over from Alice Mosley who reverted to a role in the back four. Stockport Lionesses had the ball in the Beechy net but the goal was ruled out for offside by a keen-eyed referee. A superb through ball from Aimee Armsden sent Jess Lawson on a clear run into the penalty area and Beechy's leading goalscorer supplied an accurate low finish into the bottom corner of the net for the fifth goal. The visitors tactic in the second half was to hit long balls deep into the Beechy half but remaining alert Joanna, Megan, Alice and Julie were able to deal with the threat.

After fifty four minutes Amie Barrett created the highlight of the game when Beechy's No25 went on a solo run before producing an audacious finish when she chipped the ball over the keeper for 6-0. More superb football from Beechy kept the pressure on their opponents and in the 61st minute Jess Lawson netted goal number seven following a pinpoint pass by Aimee Armsden. Stacy Partridge was back on the pitch when she replaced Amie Barrett and Stacy was instantly involved in a class move with Joanna, Natasha and Monique. Stockport Lionessess carved out two half chances when their No11 blasted the ball off target then a well timed tackle by Alice Mosley foiled an attempt by the visitors No28. Jess and Natasha linked-up superbly in a swift passing move and the unmarked Becky Gregory ended the move firing the ball just wide of the target.

A swerving effort from Jess Lawson hit the top of the crossbar but minutes later Beechy's No20 controlled a pass from Natasha Herity and from close range completed her hat-trick with the eighth goal in the 79th minute. Well delivered crosses from Joanna and Monique caused problems for the visitors keeper prior to Aimee Armsden from inside the area firing home goal number nine. A volley by Monique flew just over the crossbar and maintaining a strong attack surge Beechy hit double figures when Stacy Partridge completed the scoring.
